DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Colby on a good extension definitely. That's definitely the key. Without knowing what Colby is asking for I wouldn't do it but, I'm expecting Colby to get paid this summer. On a team friendly deal Colby > Phillips.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 If I'm trading Rasmus it would have to be for a starter . I would also say Rasmus+Goins >than Phillips +Gose
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 I would also say Rasmus+Goins >than Phillips +Gose Probably. It's also Rasmus + Gose as insurance + Goins. And the Jays would have a few more millions in the 2014 budget to throw at some middle infield scuzzbutt like Kelly Johnson.

He doesn't have the assets to trade for a contender without utilizing the FA market. Even if AA were to land a Phillips or Anderson he needs to add quite a bit more in order to actually contend.

I wouldn't mind having Kelly Johnson back and sharing 2B duties with Goins. For $2-3 million, he can definitely be a nice add.

It will be interesting to see because AA has never been one to sign big name free agents. Even last offseason, everything was through trade. I think his biggest FA signing was Maicer at 3 years lol.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 Both are lefty bats though. Yeah forgot about that, plus the Jays have Maicer occupying a roster spot. Having Goins in Triple A as insurance wouldn't be the worst thing. A tandem of Johnson and Maicer at second wouldn't be that bad. As much as I dislike Maicer, he shouldn't be this bad again in 2014.
The_DH Verified Member Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 I'm just afraid that he's needed at short for 100 games.

Add another to the walking infirmary. lol TANAKA OR BUST! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byP-3BrkvvU AA must be nuts...think he would learn from past trading for injured arm pitchers
oakville69 Verified Member Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 (edited) I thought AA was going to stay away from former injured players? AA likes his injury prone bargains like Brandon Morrow, Josh Johnson Edited October 20, 2013 by oakville69 spelling mistake
