GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 LOL. Whatever man. My voice is mildly annoying too and I still call in. Course I was halfway drunk tonight too thanks to 4 beers 3 glasses of wine and one vodka. Your voice wasn't irritating. It was a solid call lol
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 She's pretty beefy though. I'd take Caroline Cameron or Allie Lozoff (luckily my wife isn't on the forum:p) But those tits... <3
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 I kinda want to call in but my voice is annoying and I'm sick on top of that I may say screw it though lol that might be fun Hi Mr.Anthopoulos.

ace3113 Verified Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 At PSD I posted Hello everybody We over at (blue jays message board link) have created a new term called the Arencibia Line The term "Arencibia (\ahr-ehn-SEE-bee-uh\) Line) refers to an extremely low on base percentage for a professional baseball player. (http://www.fangraphs.com/library/offense/obp/). On base percentage (OBP) is in an important measure of a hitter's performance, stating what proportion of plate appearances result in the player not getting out. In 2013, Toronto Blue Jays catcher Jonathan Paul (J. P.) Arencibia had an extremely low on base percentage (0.236 at the time of this writing), at a level ranking in the lowest 0.001% in major league baseball history for players qualifying with enough plate appearances. The exact on base percentage for which the term "Arencibia Line" applies is debated, but is generally accepted to be in the vicinity of .250. Aces picture Use the hashtag #ArencibiaLine on twitter Or something like that I approve this message.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Hi Mr.Anthopoulos. My voice might actually be more annoying. Yeah, it's possible. Anyone want to write an article for Fangraphs? NJH I'm looking at you. This could seriously make a good fanpost. I may do this tomorrow if I have time.
Jays Verified Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 I wonder if Arencibia has heard the term Arencibia Line, yet. I wonder what he'd have to say about it.
theblujay Verified Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 All the guys on the MLB boards responded saying we are being too hard on one of our own players. Called me a troll

Called me a troll the entire concept is kinda tryhard. as a joke its funny but trying to force it to be as unanimously known as the mendoza line is ridiculous. with that said though i hope it does catch on so 50 years from now i can tell stories of the legend of jp

Cooler Heads Prevail Verified Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 I'm really not impressed that AA and Gibbons keep trotting out JPA to finish the season when he's obviously mentally done, and any residual trading value is getting beat down to nothing as they play him in a season ending slump. The whole charade seems entirely gutless and I don't blame JPA at all for the last couple of weeks. Gibbons has mailed it in for quite a while now. Jays are actually somewhat fun to watch some games, except when Arencebia bats its all a big joke by now that's gotten stale and its not even fair to the man himself.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 All the guys on the MLB boards responded saying we are being too hard on one of our own players. Called me a troll I'd be upset with all of this myself if it wasn't for JPA's antics recently with Zaun and Hayhurst, among other things. Right now I think he's getting exactly what he deserves.

Caper Verified Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Think how truly stupid the joke is. A bunch of people congratulating themselves over a really, really stupid joke. The picture was pretty funny.... But would have been better if it didn't use such a stupid joke.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 It is kind of silly how hard you guys are vying for recognition (and a bit embarrassing as a member of this board,) but I think it would be pretty funny to see the term become universal.

Is it a bit mean spirited? Yes Are we taking the joke too far? Probably Do we really expect this to become part of baseball lexicon? Of course not So why bother? I'd say we are finding something a bit fun to do in a s***** unenjoyable season. And MAYBE bringing some attention to the organization pointing out that the fan base is no longer behind this player that we all want replaced for the good of the team.
JFD Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 this is f***ing awesome! only good thing to come out of this year. Well done. PS: I hope it becomes part of baseball history. that would make me happy.
