"Americans" makes more sense because it complements MLB's Nationals and the NHL's Capitals well, but given the current climate of our country, there are now complications with that name, even when positioned as the non-slur alternative to "Redskins."

 

Ummmmmmmm...what? I must have missed the point where "American" became a contentious word in our "current climate"

 

I know what would make Vinnie happy: the Washington Bolsheviks. Perfect name. Acceptable in the current climate and not nearly as polarizing as "Americans". If you call yourself an American, that's racist.

I was just trying to point out that this was an individual opinion not part of a movement (I will admit that sometimes a single person can start a movement). I wouldn't have used "not happy" but I will say that this isn't the end. Now Indigenous rights groups will attempt to identify these newfound allies and leverage that for more power and eventually helping the communities that need it. Others of course will leverage it for personal gain and power as well.

Trudeau sure as f*** doesn't help, and it's not only him, all the politicians of the past have basically dropped empty promises to the Indigenous folk, it's embarrassing and a travesty.
