Positive stuff! Yes, the title was a dig at Oakwood, lol.
Convo Verified Member Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I'm glad, now Alex can focus on s*** that actually matters (i.e. SP, C, 2B, LF... in that order).
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Toronto Blue Jays general manger Alex Anthopoulos said the team’s manager John Gibbons is coming back next year. Anthopoulos made the announcement in a media scrum Tuesday. Recently there has been speculation that Gibbons’ job could be in danger since the Blue Jays have disappointed this season after a slew of high profile off-season acquisitions. The team is currently last in the AL East with a record of 59-73. On Monday, the 51-year-old Gibbons was cool and philosophical when asked whether he worries about being the fall guy for his high-priced club’s disappointing season. In November, Gibbons was signed to a two-year deal with a unique option. If Gibbons is still employed by the club after Jan. 1 in any season, the option for the following season automatically kicks in, thus removing the possibility of him operating under “lame-duck” status. Gibbons said Monday he expects the Blue Jays roster to have a different look in 2014. “I think the team needs to make some changes, no question,” he said, refusing to elaborate on what areas they might be. “Very rarely do you stay status quo coming off a bad year. We think we need a few little additions.” http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/alex-anthopoulos-says-john-gibbons-will-return-as-toronto-blue-jays-manager-next-season/

GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2013 Author Posted August 27, 2013 lol @ the comments section Idk which is worse, TSN's or Sportsnet's. I think TSN's.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2013 Author Posted August 27, 2013 Facebook beats all Casual fans for the win Facebook doesn't count. It's f***ing facebook, lol. It's funny how such a small portion of the fanbase can be brilliant, and then the rest of it can just be so incredibly fascinatingly stupid.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Yes glad the decision is made already so they can focus on bigger issues Still don't love Gibbons as manager but don't hate him either. I just feel very "meh" about it. Always have.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Thread merged with Fatcow's late-ass one
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Thread merged with Fatcow's late-ass one 2 minutes ain't that late!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 2 minutes ain't that late! I know. Just clownin'.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I think I've figured out why I'm so "meh" about Gibbons as manager. It's the lackadaisical demeanor he shows all the time. How he walks, talks, etc just seems too relaxed somehow. Yet at the same time I recognize all that really matters is decision making and fostering a good clubhouse where guys want to play hard and win. He probably does both reasonable well. Sometimes the optics just seem off from the outside looking in.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Gibbons isn't the problem. The Managers strategies doesn't have as much weight over a 162-game marathon.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 At least Bonifacio won't be (Big grin) yeah, the most hyped piece of s*** in history.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2013 Author Posted August 27, 2013 Also, keeping the payroll huge and bloated next year will ensure another horrendous team. wat
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 wat Spending money on Cano, Choo, Santana, etc. in free agency won't magically change the fact that this is a fundamentally flawed team and a non-contender. The only way this franchise can get out from under AA's mess is to blow it up and start from scratch, not keep jacking up payroll on a team that's not worth it.
The_DH Verified Member Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Excellent, the man who puts "meh" in manager will be back. This team has no heart and soul.
DH12 Verified Member Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 best way to revive your career is to get out of toronto
DH12 Verified Member Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 so far a great move to get Bonafacio by KC
