Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Blue Jays believe Melky Cabrera already served his time, won't be suspended Although his name is tied to the Biogenesis scandal, the Toronto Blue Jays do not feel like Melky Cabrera will be suspended. The outfielder served a 50-game suspension while with the San Francisco Giants last year after testing positive for a banned substance. The Blue Jays think any punishment now would be inappropriate since Cabrera already served a drug suspension that could have arguably rose from his connection with Biogenesis. Gregor Chisholm and Paul Casella of MLB.com say the Blue Jays are confident Cabrera has already been suspended for his transgression. The connection to Biogenesis was in the past and he tested positive as a result of the drugs he received from them, they believe. "We don't think anything's going to happen, he served his penalty last year," said manager John Gibbons, who added the club hasn't thought about a Plan B if Cabrera were suspended. "Major League Baseball is handling all that, so we don't know. But we think, since he served his time, it's over with. I haven't given it much thought and the GM hasn't talked much about it." Cabrera signed a two-year, $16 million deal this past offseason, so he's probably not too concerned about the scandal. He may have lost 50 games, but he got a big contract in the end. Of course, if he is suspended again, he could face a lot more missed time, and a lot more money lost. The Blue Jays have gotten some production out of Cabrera this year, but probably less than they hoped. He's been injured and on the DL at different times this season and has only played in 85 games. He is hitting .284/.325/.367 this season. http://www.mlbinjurynews.com/2013/07/blue-jays-believe-melky-cabrera-already.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Melky's suspension is our best option. If Melky doesn't get suspended -Gose goes on suicide watch If Melky does get suspended -Pillar gets called up. Gose goes on suicide watch Either way, we're gonna lose ;[
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 I suspect with the 40 man issues that Gose would get called up, and Pillar will spend the rest of the year in AAA (which isn't necessarily a bad thing).

admin Site Manager Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Gose is hitting .292/.363 in 12 games since the break. Still striking out too much though. What I don't get is how he has 12SB and 12CS.

What I don't get is how he has 12SB and 12CS. He is supposedly playing very cocky and not paying too much attention. He needs to smarten up and get his act together or he is useless.

Arkadium Verified Member Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 I would like to resign Davis though. Hes a good option vs Lefties and his speed can be such a weapon. Davis has been great this year. Scoring a run nearly 1/2 the time he gets OB... that's ridiculous. Last year I hated Davis so bad because he always seemed to find ways to screw up... he actually seemed to smarten up this year, or maybe it's that Gibbons is using him more effectively.

Davis has been fantastic this year.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Yep. Davis has been fantastic this year. He is losing his effeciveness playing everyday though. Needs to remain a bench player/4th OF

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2013 Author Posted July 30, 2013 Davis is R, Gose is L. Seems like they could platoon. I definitely want to keep Davis as long as it's less than $3M/year, he's a very useful player. Rajai will be Reds CF and leadoff guy next season. Dusty Baker loves him. AA should trade him to the Reds now.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 Sure they can give us Choo with a 5-year contract extension. The Reds will let Choo walk. He can't play in the CF and is very expensive. Rajai >> Billy Hamilton
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
