Carlos Perez has a .315 OBP at AAA.

Asher Wojciechowski has a 2.82 ERA at AAA.

Joe Musgrove is striking out 8.76/9 at rookie ball.

Kevin Comer is playing similarly at A-.

JA Happ was trash this year and is now injured.

David Carpenter was traded for Farrell.

Brandon Lyon performed well but is now/was on the Mets.

It wasn't a horrendous trade imo. But good? I dunno if I'd go that far.

If Asher W got plunked in the head instead of Happ, the trade goes from "not horrendous" to pretty good imo. You can't really call this trade a win or loss right now because it was freakishly bad luck that Happ got injured. Unlike all the other injuries this team gets to their pitchers which screams poor conditioning and development.

So the frontrunner's supposed to be the A's. Sonny Gray and Addison Russell.....the Chisox want the A's to eat most of the contract, which is an apparent road block....according to MLBTR.

Ya....thats not gonna happen. Wayyyy too much for Peavy especially if they want the As to eat his salary as well.

lol, I remember getting in a big debate with Kirksaw and others who were saying that Garza and Peavy would go for little more than salary relief and signing bonus space.

Yep. I was wrong and GMs have lost their minds! The prices are not historically very consistent but next year's FA pitching market stinks. I just don't know. Trying to figure a reason.

Basically, you're dumb. That's what the better available arms/bats always cost. The buyers almost always "lose" on paper, when it comes to the top names out there. The added Wild Card slots have (probably) also made the midseason market a bit more seller-friendly.

2010:

- A few days before the actual deadline, the Phillies made a huge splash and acquired Roy Oswalt and $11MM from the Astros in exchange for J.A. Happ and prospects Anthony Gose, and Jonathan Villar.

- The White Sox fortified their rotation by acquiring Edwin Jackson from Arizona in exchange for Daniel Hudson and David Holmberg [Jackson had a 5.16 ERA at the time of this trade].

- Even with Jon Rauch doing a fine job in the interim, the Twins solidified the ninth inning by acquiring closer Matt Capps from the Nationals. They gave up Wilson Ramos and Joe Testa.

2011:

- Hunter Pence and cash (Astros) for Jonathan Singleton, Jarred Cosart, Josh Zeid and a player to be named later (Phillies)

- Mike Adams (Padres) for Joseph Wieland and Robert Erlin (Rangers)

- Ubaldo Jimenez (Rockies) for Drew Pomeranz, Alex White, Joe Gardner and Matt McBride (Indians)

- Koji Uehara (Orioles) for Tommy Hunter and Chris Davis (Rangers)

- Carlos Beltran (Mets) for Zack Wheeler (Giants)

Morosi's just trolling for controversy. Although I'd be okay with moving Bautista for Major League pieces. How's this?

To Toronto: Jake Peavy, Jameson Taillon, Gordon Beckham

To Baltimore: Jose Bautista, Justin Morneau, Juan Perez

To Chicago: Dylan Bundy, Anthony Gose, Dilson Herrera

To Pittsburgh: Alex Rios, Alexei Ramirez, Rajai Davis, Brett Cecil, ($7M relief for Rios)

To Minnesota: Brandon Cumpton, Emilio Bonifacio

Bautista, Cecil, Davis, Perez, Bonifacio, and Gose for Peavy, Taillon, and Beckham is a terrible trade IMO.

So you have us trading Bautista, Gose, Perez, Cecil, Davis, Boni for Peavy, Taillon, Beckham? I think that would be an overpay on our part..

We would definitely need to find a good RF in the offseason to replace Bautista. If we cleared Buehrle out too somehow there could be enough money available.

Maybe Chicago could also kick in a decent prospect?

Too many teams and too many pieces for that deal to actually happen. As others have said the value is quite a ways off as well. If somehow a 3 team deal could be worked out perhaps the Jays could move Bautista + Gose + Cecil for Taillon + Peavy + filler which makes some sense. Jose could be a chance to sell high and should be explored but, I'd be hard pressed to move Gose while his value is so low.

Oh, there's a nice summary haha.

Yeah, absolutely no way that happens.
