4 IP, 1 H, 1 BB, 8 K last night in a rehab start in Dunedin. We actually have something to look forward to folks.

Time to change your Avatar. Hutchison is near to the big league again.

Hit 97mph (on what we assume was the in-stadium gun) too.

97? That seem dubious. It would be sweet if the new tendon juiced up his FB tho, it was nice seeing him hit 95 until his elbow exploded

He hit 96 quite a few times last year and sat at 93-95 in several starts.

I imagine the gun was a little juiced. 94mph-95mph seems more likely but, lately it seems a if lots of guys gain arm strength after TJS, so who knows?

For all those thanking Dinger you should all check out the prospects sub-forum. The Hutch watch was on last night. With a few guys making rehab appearances/getting healthy/moving up the system it's bringing some excitement back in to the threads. You are obviously all interested and more participation would be welcomed!

Big fan of Hutch, hope he can be a solid starter for us. How much rehab does he realistically need before he can come back? Or are they just going to play it safe with him

Right now Hutchison could be our Ace. Am I right?

That's disgusting.

I used my last pick in the fantasy league draft to draft Hutch. I had a feeling that the pitching would go to s*** this year, as it always does. He has been sitting on my DL all season and I may actually get some innings from him this year.

Talk he could be ready by late August/early September. Biggest thing to look for is his pitch count, he wont be with the Jays until he is regularly over 100 pitches and performing well.

Anyone who doesn't is an idiot in my opinion. Why wouldn't you want to stay healthier and throw harder.

Have to remember that all MLB'ers are on strengthening programs. The Jamie Evans' one looks great so far but, it's not the only one out there.

Personally I don't want to see Hutch back on the big club this year unless he's fully stretched out and dominating AA. We have nothing to gain by rushing him. I'd rather give Stroman a shot in the rotation if we need someone in the near future.

Yes

Stroman in September would give me a reason to at least want to watch every 5th game

Same, but the selfish side of me would like to see him up.

OK. If he pitches to a 4.00 era and that's the best we have it's disgusting.

But going with guys like Hutch is fine. As long as you have enough. Some will over-perform, some will underperform. I bet out of the following 10 you get a pretty good staff and an ace. I have no idea which one will be the best... I mean Synd has the best chance, but it's only a chance... the thing is out of a large group of guys you get a good chance for some good pitchers.

Hutch, Drabek, Synd, Nolin, Nicolino, Stroman, Sanchez, Henderson Alvarez, Woj, Desciafina,

I'd be very comfortable with that base for 2014/15.

Hutchison isn't Havery.....oh wait, he hit 97Mph last night.

My point is: Jays need a real top-rotation SP. Johnson failed and Morrow is Morrow.

You want to see how he really looks too

They are now saying they want to see how Morrow looks in late 2013 before making rotation decisions for next year

Stroman/Hutch as a healthy 4/5 is nice to dream on for next year, and Sanchez should be in AA by then.

I think you could make the argument that Toronto only needs to add 1 SP this winter, and there's no point in doing so unless that guy is a sure SP3 or better.

Dickey

Morrow

Buehrle

Happ

Hutch

Stroman

Nolin

Rogers?

Well, I dunno. Maybe that argument would be pretty bad. The depth will be there but the top end production will be a massive question mark. If you look at mean outcomes down the list, you probably have: SP3, hurt/SP4, SP4, SP5, SP5, SP5/RP, SP5, SP5/RP.

Looks like they need another top end guy.... Stroman, Hutch, Rogers, Nolin, Romero as depth.

You know what would look sexy? Opening day starter Dustin McGowan.

Of course, that would have looked sexier 5 years ago...

Good point, I always forget about Dusty.

He's still throwing 4 pitches. Not sure if he's just still finding his groove or they are trying to get him reps for next year. You would think he'd drop a pitch if he was going to be a reliever long term.
