FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Yer.........Dumn!! Care to explain how he's done a good enough job of motivating his team, putting his players in the best position to succeed, and making smart decisions? Or do you just plan on calling me "Dumn" for stating the obvious?
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 AA on trade deadline: "From our standpoint, we’re having dialogue, I think it’s going to be quiet, I really don’t see us doing anything." BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 No thanks f***face I've been through this BS ten fold with you. Wut? I haven't been on here very long and have barely even interacted with you. Why don't you tell me what Gibby has done so wrong as our manager? Failed to motivate the team - we have a bunch of overpaid quitters and losers with zero accountability. Created an atmosphere where the team can just keep screwing up and making dumbshit errors with - again - zero accountability. Complete failure to instill the importance of fundamental baseball into his players. Dumb lineups, dumb call-ups. Lax, cavalier attitude with no sense of urgency while the team is collapsing around him. Any other team would have already fired Gibbons a month ago minimum. Not only that, he already failed before in Toronto, including getting in fistfights with his own players. There was ZERO interest in him as a manager from other teams after his first firing. How on Earth could Fat Alice possibly have expected bringing back this clown to go well?
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Yup. In typical Jays fashion I see Oliver was terrible again, if i was running the team he wouldn't even have played this season after what he pulled during the offseason
AuntieJPA Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 lol we ended up losing this game? Saw the end of Gibbons' conference but did any reporters ask why unused Perez wasn't used earlier?
SantosLHalper21 Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Problem here was Gibbons using Cecil far too soon. He should have used Perez in the 6th or Loup. Then because he was handcuffed..he had to turn to Oliver in the 8th for some reason. With an OPP BA against lefties over .340, there's no way Oliver should ever of been out there to pitch to Gonzo, Ethier etc. Gibbons isn't putting his players in a situation to succeed and it boggles my mind how he still keeps a job.
AuntieJPA Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Agree. I don't understand the Oliver move. Gibbs was close to tears post game. He seems defeated. I almost wish for Ozzie G. Could it be worse? Things are a train wreck as it is.

Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 That still has no reverence to his job at hand.....the ballplayers aren't living up to par at the least. True, but that doesn't mean he won't be on the hot seat. AA and Beeston are going to be feeling a tremendous amount of pressure to find a veteran manager this winter. Not saying they can Gibby, but I wouldn't be surprised at all.

Of course the players are to blame, but Gibbons seems spent and clueless. Oliver tonight against lefties-- given the splits- is beyond a brain fart. This team needs some spark and or firm hand or something. It is painful to see Gibbons struggle to explain things....the team, perhaps not AA ego-has nothing to lose.

If they can Gibby I f***ing wish the next manager is a disaster and Gibby finds a job at a much better Org
AuntieJPA Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Why did he use and keep Oliver in? Why did he waste so many relievers in last night's blowout? Why DI AA hire him? Who calls the shots? Gibbons body language says it all. I predict Friday.

AuntieJPA Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Okay, then why not use Perez? Look at Oliver against lefties. And please don't be insulting. I don't make jokes about geeks and acne and parents' basements, do I?
AuntieJPA Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 At least you are consistent. Were you the kind person who defended JPA in May and ridiculed those who called out JP. Have you seen Oliver's stats vs. lefties? Really, now. Something like .340 or so.
AuntieJPA Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Then explain why Gibbons used Oliver and not Perez.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I doubt it. Based on what? You doubt the fan base is going to be calling for his head? Half the morons that I hear talking baseball think he should be gone, that will likely grow by seasons end. Many already questioned him being here in the first place and this is not helping his cause at all. I am not saying I want Gibby gone because I actually like him as manager and want him to stick around, but lets be realistic here, its going to be hard to sell this team to the fan base for next season without a few major changes and if those changes come and Gibby is still around, it could be a pretty hard sell. At the end of the day its a business and nice guys get let go all the time. The way this team is losing right now in epic fashion, they are digging themselves into a major f***ing hole with the fan base. If ticket sales decrease next season, nothing short of making the post season will save AA's job and I bet he already knows it. I doubt he doesn't look at alternative managers this winter and if an opportunity to upgrade presents itself he may very well jump on it.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Rofl I fell asleep when we were up 8-3 How the HELL did they lose again.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Vik it ain't happening, not with the three at the top, it just isn't....Gibbons has done nothing wrong thus far, nothing wrong, it isn't happening. If AA and Beeston want to save their jobs, Gibbons will be fired. This is a business, not a hug fest. Gibbons was an incredibly tough sell to the fanbase BEFORE this abortion of a season. He's gone.

Jay I disagree here. I think they will want him to stay but if it comes down to what will help sell this team to the fan base more easily and they feel its substantial enough Gibby will be canned. It's not about what he has done wrong which I agree is nothing. It's about what will keep this train moving and if they can't keep fan interest at least equal to what it is this year, they are going to be in a world of trouble.
