ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 This is why AA should try and trade Juan Perez for anything right now. And Darren Oliver, I'd actually trade Oliver ahead of Perez unless you can get "more" for Perez.
JaysRap Verified Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Sounds like a surprising surplus between starters and bullpen pieces coming back to the major league team. Really should be trading at least one of these pieces.

Really should be trading at least one of these pieces. They should try to trade JJ and maybe 2-3 bullpen guys and I don't just mean Darren Oliver/Juan Perez. I'm talking Janssen, Delabar or Cecil. I think they could get a couple of good prospects for these guys. At least deal from strength, a Rasmus/Escobar type deal would be freaking great.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Redmond might be enough to put the inevitable Sanchez for Bruce Chen deal over the top. Sell high on The Todd Redmond, Ortiz, Laffey, Jenkins, Wang = a lot of outings. It's not fair
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Santos' return is also imminent, or did I miss it and he had a setback? If he's on schedule, that's another 40-man roster spot that needs to be opened up.

A glimmer of the old AA with a Rasmus type deal would be so nice right now.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 He's at Buffalo right now IIRC In fact he just entered the game

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 JJ and a BP arm for Cron
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2013 Author Posted July 19, 2013 In fact he just entered the game Santos just struck out the side
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Santos just struck out the side Great Depth RP
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Atlanta is in the market for LH relief with only 1 lefty in the pen right now. Lots of options out there for them though
Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Yep I mean, another starter will likely get hurt before the year is over, but the depth should be there in spades. The team is setup quite nicely in terms of SP depth for next year. Hutch, Stroman, Nolin and Drabek all figure to be guys to start the season in the minors and call up when injuries hit and that is not too shabby. I believe Happ will be out of options for next year but how about Romero?

Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 Romero is out of options That's why he had to clear waivers this year when he was stinking up the joint Ah..Ok, that makes sense. Chances are though if he continues like he is going he will likely be in the mix for a spot next year.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 #1 Morrow Dickey Buehrle Happ ----- Rogers (BP) Nolin (AAA) Stroman (AAA) Hutchison (AAA) As things stand the depth is pretty enviable. Unfortunately, that's a s*** rotation. I see a 3/4 (Morrow), two 4/5s (Dickey, Buehrle), and a 5 (Happ). This rotation needs at least one legit front-rotation arm to be competitive. Preferably two. Don't forget our very own Ricky Romero. Man it really sucks being stuck with his contract and no one remotely interested in him.

I wanted to comment on Happ and found this thread as a jump off point Wow but wow Happ looks bad. I'm not even sure he's even an acceptable #5 starter Here's hoping we pick up a Tanaka or Garza, and get some major upswings next year out of the DL guys (Hutch, Morrow, Drabek) And can retain Johnson on a cheap 1 year deal Egads
Convo Verified Member Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Wow but wow Happ looks bad. I'm not even sure he's even an acceptable #5 starter He's certainly not. Even Redmond is a better option. And don't forget Sean Nolin... he's still a possibility

Convo Verified Member Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Heck, I'm pretty sure I'd take Rogers over Happ too Well yeah, that's just assumed... Esmil throws harder and has better stuff than both those guys, so obviously his ceiling has to be higher

And he doesn't throw the variety that the craftier guys do. I see a rotation of maybe: Buerhle Tanaka Dickey Rogers Morrow or Drabek With pretty good depth in Hutch, Stroman, Romero, Happ How good it that starting rotation? Maybe average in the AL? Hard to say.

It's gonna be Buehrle, Dickey, Morrow for sure, and probably Esmil... but I'd like to see one of Drabek, Hutch, or Nolin earn their way into the rotation. At this point we pretty much know what we're going to get from Buehrle, Esmil, and Dickey. Though Dickey probably is a little be better next season; honestly how can he give up so many HRs at RC? Morrow and the rest are all wild cards IMO. Edited September 13, 2013 by Convo

He wasn't that good even before his second TJS.
