Stroman + Lawrie + Osuna?

For a guy with an expiring contract? Hell f***ing no... Osuna's hurt right now, Lawrie is a non-starter and I'm not prepared to move Stroman...

I WOULD be willing to move Norris, Pillar, Gose, Sanchez, DJ Davis... A lot of other guys who have varying degrees of value... Obviously not all of those guys at once, but those aren't terrible names to throw out there for a guy like Headley

Why Sanchez?

Not sure why you would be willing to sell low on so many players

IMO those names don't even get you a return phone call. The only guy there with any kind of value around the league is Sanchez IMO. For a year and a half of Headley there are going to be teams offering up big-time value. What do we have that would interest SD?

MLB roster - Lawrie

MILB - Sanchez, Osuna, Stroman, Gose?

Some combination of those + a filler piece or two gets it done IMO.

Osuna is injured, possibly TJS. Value is in the shitter, same with Gose.

Sanchez because he has value. I didn't say I'd sell them at their low value, I said they were guys I'd move, not that I'd give the away for pennies on the dollar. For a guy who has never lived up to his potential (maybe because of park factors) they don't have as much leverage as they might like. Osuna is a non-trade candidate specifically because of his injuries.

Aww yeah, I replied to 4 people on one line! I RULE! (Also, I'm half drunk and someone outside my window is smoking some really strong pot that I think I might have inhaled...)

Only "good" thing about Osuna being injured is that he won't be dealt.

Best thing to do is to deal relievers for the best they can get, hopefully there's a match for a young 2B or starting pitcher. This should've been year where they took a step back for the good of the franchise given the state of the rotation at the end of last season. Even if they had made the Marlins trade and stopped there, I could live with it as at least they got 2 starters and Reyes. Anyway...

Chase Headley is 19th among position players in fWAR since 2010 with 15.9 and is coming of a 7.2 fWAR year. I think teams will be lining up to not only get 1.5 years of him, but get his name on a 6-7 year contract.

Okay, this is my ignorance coming into play... I honestly didn't pay any attention to baseball last year at all (y'know...) ... So I wasn't aware that Headley had put up a year like that. That does change my perception of his value...

Plus, I'm all for getting the TJS out of the way in the early years, stinks when it happens in their first or second year in the majors.

The only realistic way to get Headley is if AA does some similar magic he pulled to get Rasmus. Trading spare parts with some value to a contending team to get assets that SD would like.

I wonder if Matt Davidson might be a target. We haven't heard anything about him (which adds credibility to him being a possibility). Arizona is looking for relievers.

2010 - 4.4 WAR

2011 - 2.1 WAR (113 games = 2.8WAR 150 games)

2012 - 7.2 WAR

2013 - 2.0 WAR (79 games = 3.8WAR 150 games)

Solid starter, "one year wonder"

Note: Lawrie '11 = 8.7 WAR 150 games

Lawrie wouldn't be moved for Headley, he'd be the 2BOTF. Gose+Osuna+Boni+Lugo or something like that.

I'm down with any move that forces AA to get rid of Bonifacio

I want an upgrade at 2B and catcher. Any way you can make that happen. Izturis is the one to keep I think as utility/backup. He's the most versatile defensively among the guys we have now, and he'd get plenty of playing time if he was "the guy"

I don't want us to trade for Headley. I feel he's overrated because of his 1 awesome year. There's a good chance he gives you just average production for the remainder of his contract. I wouldn't include Osuna or Sanchez or Gose in a deal for him.

Headley would be an awesome addition but, he's going to cost a lot of assets and be relatively expensive in a couple seasons. I think Castellanos or Wong need to be the targets for AA right now. Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez would save AA from giving up more assets for rotation depth as well.

He won't be cheap either:

I'm right on board with you for these targets. I have a hard time seeing Castellanos moved, though. Unless it brings back something big, of course. What's the biggest we have to offer? Wong seems plausible. McCann or Ruiz would be off-season targets for me. JPA is painful. Rotation is still a mess going into next year. Gonzalez could address that hole.

The only thing the Jays have to offer is BP help (Janssen) and MIF depth (Bonifacio), maybe Detroit is desperate enough to pull the trigger on that deal.

Wong is definitely available, the question is the cost. Like, Castellanos he wont come cheap either. IMO Castellanos is the better player, has star upside and is the one who is worth giving up value for. Wong is just a solid regular IMO and wouldn't give up too much for him.

Ruiz and McCann would be huge upgrades this off-season. If AA spends on pitching again and they sign elsewhere I'm going to be annoyed.

This isn´t the NL West, one push doesn`t get you even close in our division, even if we were to win 11 straight once again our chances keep looking dim. It makes sense to NOT get a rental player, however, for those ruling out the likes of Garza (if he is even being considered), a good player with a reasonable extension for a reasonable package (this is obviously the hard part) I`m sure would be the org`s intention, likely not happening though.

Can we say "Ruiz or McCann" instead of AND? I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibilities for AA to sign both for some bizarre reason... (And I assume he reads - and gets all of his ideas from - this board
