digiblader Verified Member Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Like the Angels, we're not out of it by any means--Boston's no guarantee to stay in 1st(especially if they keep losing bullpen arms to injury), especially as Tampa is playing better. A good stretch and struggles by Boston in Seattle and Oakland could put us right back in the mix..

JaysRap Verified Member Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 If I were the Jays at this point I'd be trying to position the team to finish 3rd or 2nd and maybe miss the wilcard by about 3 games. Then you'll have SOME grace with the general fans to say "Oh, if it wasn't for a bad April May we would've made it" Then re-tool again in the offseason and come strong(er) for 2014. I'd still try and get a SP or 2B (or 3B if you plan to slot Lawrie at 2B) for this year with the idea of them being useful going forward.
digiblader Verified Member Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 You can bet AA is looking at that right now on the trade market.. hey, at least we don't need multiple bullpen arms like Boston does(they're going to lose a number of prospects if they make trades.) Remember, there are sellers in Houston, Seattle, Chicago(how about Gordon Beckham?), Minnesota, Miami, New York, Philly(maybe), Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee(Rickie Weeks?), and the Giants and Padres.

If I were the Jays at this point, I'd be trying to win every game for the rest of the year and then the world series and then go 162-0 in 2014... But then again, I'm hardly a strategist...
