I still can't believe Dickey is losing to Pelfrey. How many scrubs has this guy lost to this year? I know he's lost starts against Axelrod, Freddy Garcia and Miguel Gonzalez. I remember when Doc was here it was pretty much a slam dunk when he faced a scrub.

This is true, but pretty hard to win with 0 runs for.

Get the postgame excuses ready R.A.

"uh, it was kinda humid today, the ball was slipping, i think if the dome was open, today, the knuckle would have been better'

'but R.A. the dome was open today.'

'uh s***.'

Come on you can't pin this on dickey, a passed ball hurt him and he has been pretty good today. This game so far is on baserunning and poor at bats. But no Dickey is not Doc.

You were saying?

I like Dickey and think he's a well spoken and genuinely a nice guy... but for Syndernaud? :(

The sad part is that this might not even be the worst Dickey were going to see.

Most likely will just keep sharply declining.

He's playing a a #5 starter this year. I don't think he can really get much worse.

At his salary if he was a free agent, I wouldn't be that disappointed with him but two top prospects makes this a truly bad trade. How the f*** did AA get one upped by a guy who only knows how to build a great bullpens

This happens when a gm thinks he's identified the "final piece" to his puzzle.

So the team is now 42-45. Winning 90 games will require a 48-27 record in the remaining 75 games; a 104-win pace.

Without the trade the Jays would probably still be around .500 so really no net gain to making those trades so far

I wanted no part of Josh Johnson. I've been saying that since we started discussing him over a year ago.

But really, Yunel Escobar outproducing everyone we got for 1/7th the cost is a disaster. And Marisnick and Alvarez are pretty good young players.

Escobar was a public relations giveaway, no doubt in my mind. People in the media were calling for his release after the incident.

That 11 game streak masks how bad we've really been. Just really consistently bad apart from that 2 week stretch.

Guaranteed JPA's sitting in the dugout thinking the only reason they're losing 6-0 is because he's not in the lineup

Moves like that are where a great GM can make a difference. Friedman would have kept him. Hell, he traded for him. Now TB is going to get a 3+ WAR season for $5 million, and have him for two more years after this.

I love the TB model, but it's apples and oranges to me when you consider that TB has no pressure to win and homophobia is not frowned upon in TB the way it is in a city like Toronto. AA got Escobar afterall, his being given away was based on public relations. I would've preferred that they kept him even if they still got Reyes from the Marlins.

Anyway...

the only championship thing about the jays this year is the bullpen. Everything else is either average or below average.

We had a lot of players that could have came up within the next few seasons and be good major league talent. But we traded them for old, expensive players

They didn't want to wait out the 5 year plan, that's the bottom line. They decided that by the time all these young players reached the majors and went took their lumps, it would be too long to wait. Anyway...
