jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Or that people still don't realize how good Chris Bosh actually was during his time here. Demar has Lowry and JV+ a top supporting cast Bosh had Amir and a giant pile of garbage
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I'd like to make it clear that I'm not saying Masai is dumb or a net-negative. He's just not a GM that will win us a championship, I don't think. Also, Al Jefferson just got what Ross got. In this market the chances of winning a championship are like 1% anyways. You basically have to luck into a Timberwolves rebuild and get really lucky too.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 In this market the chances of winning a championship are like 1% anyways. I don't particularly give a s***. I still want one. That is and always will be the goal.

dineke Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 hopefully Lowry becomes the GOAT Raptor when all is said and done. I don't care how many records DD break.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 You forgot the Val extension which looks great. Counter: Ross way overpaid on an extension Weirdly long leash on Casey Cojo also has an opt out next year doesn't he? Demar max (completely egregious) Drafting hasn't been great (Poeltl looks fine at least) None of those things are moves that point to a smart, extremely high-level GM. He seems like maybe a slightly above average GM with some good ideas that are dragged down by some very bad ones. This is so painful for me. I really really want to see this team go far, but they need to get better to go further, and they're going to have a lot of trouble doing that. They're going to have to max Kyle too, and that's going to be about half our cap tied up in two players, one of which shouldn't be getting anywhere near that. I really want to see this team succeed but this isn't the way to do it. Ehhh, im not sure you can villify Masai. Sure I don't like the deal but he's had one pick inside the top 20 and Norman/Powell look like rotation players. I'd say he's been a good drafter to this point. I think he's a top half of the league GM, not sure how you can call Ross way overpaid...Jeremy Lin and Mozgov are both making more. I don't really like Casey but I can understand the reasoning, where are they finding a better coach? he's improved year over year. Cojos option is after 2018.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 That goes both ways. Al Jefferson would look pretty decent and he got the same as Ross. Just off the top of my head Blatt is a decent coach. Again, not trying to vilify Masai.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Jefferson's rebounding would help, but a stretch 4 who can impact the game on the defense end and also score in the mid teens would help. Would have loved Ibaka, can't believe the Thunder just gave up on him

crazy47larry Verified Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 the only thing that worries me about demar's contract at this point* is that he is our 2nd/3rd best player and our best player (Lowry) is a ufa next year (can decline $12m player option). *look i know hes overpaid and all that but we all knew he was coming back for more than we liked so after that we just had to rationalize it.

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 They asked for Patterson+9+Joseph+Powell. It was a good non-move. Yea I just noticed he's only signed for 1 more year. I still would give up that type of package for a impact player under contract for a few seasons

crazy47larry Verified Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 He grades out fine defensively i just googled all jefferson defense and these are the top 3 things that pop up. 10 minutes of Al Jefferson playing defense >>> Hornets center Al Jefferson: I’m ‘sick’ of being defensive liability >>> http://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nba/charlotte-hornets/article9197294.html Al Jefferson knows he’s bad on defense and even he seems surprised by how much Bobcats offered >>> http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-dont-lie/al-jefferson-knows-bad-defense-even-seems-surprised-182657901.html ... i'm pretty sure its a known fact that jefferson is terrible defensively. i knew it just casually to start with.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 And Derek Jeter was one of the best glove shortstops ever. Idk. His defensive metrics are overwhelmingly solid-good. I don't know what causes the discrepancy on either side.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Mike Conley.... Biggest contract in NBA history... 5/153
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Mike Conley.... Biggest contract in NBA history... 5/153 Lebron might get 5/205 next year, lol.

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Lowry gonna be looking for 30+ million next year
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Lowry gonna be looking for 30+ million next year Lowry and Demar gonna take up 50% of our cap
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Biyombo apparently to Magic for 4/70.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 If we trade for Paul Millsap all is forgiven
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 If we trade for Paul Millsap all is forgiven eh hope they don't give up too much for a rental player
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Biyombo apparently to Magic for 4/70. 4/72 Jesus. $18m per for Biyombo? I don't think so.
