SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 It's really fun watching Demar Derozan at work right now. Completely different player, he's evolved his game to a whole new level. There are a few things he is doing really well this year. Passing is another level, really improved his pick n roll offense, can effectively hit corner 3s, takes way less long 2s. I hope this version of him is here to stay because I really enjoy watching him play right now.

How much is this Demar worth? $18m a year?

How much is this Demar worth? $18m a year? Yeah, probably, maybe even more in this cap era. I would be cool with spending up to $20m on him. Really wish there was a way to bring him back and sign horford
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Holy f***, Horford is a free agent? Didn't even realize. Is that possible if we move ross? Lol Cavs suck
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Didnt realize Hortford was a free agent either, throw the max at him. Hopefully Demar turns down a max contract elsewhere and signs at a discount so we have room to sign another star player.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 The ross extension is hurting right now...To get both we would have to shed some serious contract weight
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Yeah it's not like a Price situation I don't think. We'd still be offering DD a good haul. And a 5th year which is very important. I just wish we weren't paying so much money to 3 wings.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I wonder if we sign Demar after we hypothetically sign Horford if that could work. Im not that good with the cap numbers but it appears we would be at 68 million is we dont bring back JJ and Bennett, that would allow us to sign Horford for 21 million and then sign demar after to go into the luxury?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 I think the way it works is you have to renounce bird rights to sign a player over the cap idk http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Yes bird rights only apply when signing a player over the cap, external free agent signings would require you to renounce bird rights for existing players, or something like that I'm not sure how much you can backload contracts, but that and trading Patterson and maybe Cojo would work. If Demar doesnt resign another top free agent isn't coming here so that point is moot.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 This is our salary table with a hypothetical Demar extension. http://i.imgur.com/mzGLEMS.png Adding in about 3 million for draft picks, we'd have to trade one of Ross or Carroll, Patterson, and not re-sign anyone. Tax isn't a concern though at least. Then you could use the MLE on a bench piece (and ideally have Carroll, Patterson, Ross etc traded for bench guys too). Cap in 2017 is gonna be nuts though. Blake, Russ, Rose, Steph (for now), Ibaka, Teague, Redick, Korver. #tradeforKevinLove
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 DeMarre Carroll and Terrence Ross contract lol
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Derozan is getting a max deal, which is 25 per year.

Ross needs to go for this to happen, maybe ross and patterson
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Derozan came to play tonight.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Derozan came to play tonight. so did the sport of football
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 This Raps team seems so unappreciated. 2nd team in the East and just won their 8th in a row vs a top 5 team, yet no one is talking about them. If the Cavs turn into a mess with the coaching change Raps might actually have a shot at winning the East.
Muck Bartinez Verified Member Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 So apparently Blake Griffin broke his hand while punching a Clippers staff guy multiple times? That's pretty messed up.

If the Cavs turn into a mess with the coaching change Raps might actually have a shot at winning the East. They looked really good 2 years ago though and lost against a mediocre Brooklyn team in the first round. The offence has still been a mess in late game situations vs top teams. It would be nice for them to win the East and get an inexperienced young team in the first round but they still need a legit PF to make that next step forward
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Pretty hard to say that the Raps are a true contender until they make it past the first round... but this is clearly the best Raptors team of alltime. If Carroll can come back and play to his potential we have a real shot at making the ECF. (Ross making everyone, including myself, shut up.. Still not fooled though)
Top 10 Personal Catcher Verified Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Kobe Bryant is human garbage. True leaders do not demand respect; they simply get it because they have conducted themselves in such a way that subordinates will automatically give them respect without being ordered to do so. Kobe Bryant is human garbage.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Big game tonight. The Raps will probably get the Knicks 1st rounder this year so a win tonight would be doubly good.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 On TNT going for the franchise win streak too. So many storylines.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Melo is out, would make sense to give Lowry a couple days here to get his wrist right
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 If the Knicks end up in the lottery, do the Nuggets choose whether to swap 1st round picks with them before or after the lottery
43211234 Verified Member Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 If the Knicks end up in the lottery, do the Nuggets choose whether to swap 1st round picks with them before or after the lottery I would have to assume it would be after the lottery. I've been watching the vicarious tank closely. The Knicks are doing a bit better than I expected but there are so many teams bunched up around them that a bad couple of weeks could see them drop 4-6 spots.
