I need to give props to Casey. He has recently upped the playing time for Jonas, 30+ mins in 5 of the last 6. Nice to see that and Jonas has responded with solid performances (except the 2nd cleveland game where he was awful)

Watching the game a 2nd time JJ played pretty bad defense. He takes a lot of chances which leads to some easy buckets. Landry was much better in the limited time. I wouldn't be opposed to see him get some minutes off the bench. If anything it can decrease some guys minutes who are having to play a lot with DD out.

1st Q: 23% JV usage in 10 minutes (20% effective usage). 33 total points scored.

2nd Q: 33% JV usage in 7 minutes (19% effective usage). 30 total points scored.

3rd Q: 12% JV usage in 11 minutes (12% effective usage). 25 total points scored.

4th Q: 0% (!!!) JV usage in 7 minutes. 13 total points scored

He is playing, but we still have to use him!

Its not always on the coach...Im sure Casey isn't telling guys not to pass the ball to him. Guys have to pass to him and he has to get open lets not forget.

I think the other players don't trust him in the 4th Q as much as Casey does.

Since DeRozan injury, Crunch Time FGA (last 5 mins +/- 5 pts)

Lowry, Ross, Vasquez, Williams: 8-28 (29%)

Patterson, JV, Amir: 4-7 (57%)

I agree. It seems they also don't trust PP and Amir.

Well Amir won't ever have a play run from him, especially this year he seems like all his points are on O-rebounds. I've really like Ppats game. Doesn't force anything and is great at catching and shooting.

PP is almost too passive at times. Now that he has the ability to shoot the 3 at decent rate he has become a very versatile offensive player.

And Wiggins had 23 and 10 tonight beating Portland. ROY right now.

I don't pretend to know anything out of the basics of the NBA, but what the f*** does Wiggins have any correlation to the Raptors?

Unless, I read that wrong, who cares?

He is Canadian, and could conceivably become the face of the NBA. It's worth keeping an eye on his development. Canada could win a medal in 2016 and gold in 2020 depending on how he evolves.

Watched some of the game. He's still too passive and he's playing with a bunch of ball hogs. The natural ability is off the charts but does he have the fire to be elite?

I think having Rubio back will help him significantly. They should be able to do pretty well in the fast break.

This is the NBA thread not just the raptors thread.

I haven't watched any Minnesota games recently and only watched one entire game early on and a couple quarters when Rubio was starting. From what i saw and his highlights it seems he has a ways to go when it comes to playing "within the offence". Most of his points are from isolations and due to his freak athleticism and surprisingly decent jump shot, he can usually find a way to take a high percentage shot on his own. Over time I could see him developing some chemistry with Rubio, though I'm not sure how much chemistry he will find this year.

I also think a lot of his development will come from inside his own head. My armchair psychological evaluation of the kid is that he seems to be fairly intelligent and humble but also a bit overwhelmed and scared at times which leads to the passiveness. If he can overcome his fear and doubt I think you will then begin to see the fire.

Agreed with the below comment. Might just be a case of not being ready for the limelight yet. He seems fairly introverted.

I love Lavine's game and Rubio is a great playmaker so he's definitely in a decent environment in terms of development.

Watched most of that game as well. Man the Twolves are bad. They made such terrible mistakes in the worst possible situations. If they weren't throwing the ball away they were taking long 2s etc...

I think Wiggins really has to develop his handles. He's got a great first step and a decent jumpshot but when he has the ball it almost seems like he is a robot as he is predetermined on what he is going to do. He has so much potential but I see him being an allstar more than being an elite player.

If Embid can stay healthy he will be the best player from that draft class.

Insane that this draft class was being compared to the LBJ/Wade/Bosh/Melo class.

It's not even close. Thank GOD we didn't tank.

Ehhh, I still think it's going to be a really great class with at least a handful of all-star level players (exum, wiggins, parker, embiid at least).

Obviously, I would rather have Kyle if given the choice

My sleeper pick to be a star in this draft is Lavine. I love his game.

Still really early and in 5 years we will look back and there will probably be some really good players. Embidif he can get healthy should be an elite player. He has a decent shot of being a top 10 player in a few years, I think he is that good.
