labadee Verified Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Yeah maybe you're right. I just don't see us getting past a big team in the playoffs though. We might be able to shoot the lights out for a game or two but eventually they'll just out-grind us. obviously you have forgotten about our REAL mvp in chuck hayes haha
labadee Verified Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 On a side note: I know GV is playing quite well right now. However, Casey has to start JJ with Ross vs Cavs, right? I should hope so. We need to contain the Cavs somehow. I'm afraid of tonight's matchup. Cleveland is finding their game and TO has been exposed defensively more than ever. Could get ugly
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I'm not afraid of Cleveland at all to be honest. They looked horrible last night. Love is playing with minimal confidence, Lebron looks extremely passive (and apparently hurt his elbow last night), and Kyrie continues to just freestyle/ball hog. Their bench sucks, they have no post presence. I think we beat them againt tonight. Their depth is so hilariously bad. Shawn Marion looks like a 50 year old out there.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 Ya, I read that. He needs to stop doing it every time and Casey needs to stop letting him. Clearly there is no play being called, just give the ball to lou and let him iso 32 points on 32 shots is a pretty damn good % to close out the Q. You have to remember that milking the clock down to not let the other team have a possession has significant value. Also about the Vasquez/JJ starting thing, why mess with something thats working? I think Vasquez starts and if Lebron is just killing Ross then you take Vasquez out and sub JJ in. Vasquez usually only plays the first 6 min in the first Q anyways.

Why let something happen when you know it's inevitable? We bring JJ over to cover the Lebron/JJ/Melo's of the world and then don't give him the minutes to do so when your starter is hurt? Makes literally 0 sense to me

My point is that they do the exact same thing every single time and teams will just start game planning for it. I haven't seen them run a play to end a quarter all season (Patterson running back and forth on the baseline flailing his arms doesn't count). Lou got hot a few weeks ago and hit a bunch of shots but since that hot streak he's missed almost all of his attempts to close out a quarter. Just mix it up a little bit. Lowry gets to the rim at will whenever he wants... why settle for a contested three pointer every single time when we can get a much higher % scoring opportunity?

I think he's up for the challenge.

What if you start JJ and he picks up 2 fouls in the first 3 min? I have no problem starting a lineup that has worked well not only this season but was one of the best last year. Vasquez is playing pretty well right now too and he is the kind of guy that might lose some confidence if you replace him.

Why the hell does it matter if they are 3s or not? 10 3 pointers and one 2 point FG is the same as 16 two point FGs..... I hated the isos as much as anyone when they first ran them but Lou has done a pretty good job scoring and not leaving any time on the clock for the opposition to score. Im willing to bet that 50% eFG% is higher than average when closing out the Q.

So basically he's scoring 100 points per 100 possessions (100 offensive rating) Right now this team has the 2nd best offensive rating at 112.4 Really not sure how Lou standing around taking fade away 3's is the best choice over running an actual decent play.

Because you aren't running down the shotclock to 0 on every possession. For someone who seems to follow a lot of ball you should know this. The Raptors as a team shoot a 30.6 eFG% with 4-0 seconds left on the shot clock to put it into context. So 50% is a hell of a lot better than they are doing in late clock situations. http://stats.nba.com/team/#!/1610612761/tracking/shots/ Obviously its not the best comparison because you probably aren't getting a great shot off with no time left on the shot clock but it still puts it into perspective when you are running down the clock and not giving time for the opponent to have a possession.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Wow, no foul on Lebron and then of course when he goes to the basket it's automatic.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Wow, no foul on Lebron and then of course when he goes to the basket it's automatic. Well he did get fouled pretty hard but there still should of been a call against him to begin with. Looked like a missed charge too.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 JJ is playing a bit too agressive on Lebron. If you crowd him he will blow by you.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Just an awful job on the last 3 possessions of the Q. First you don't do a 2 for 1 and it ends up with a JJ contested 3, then Give up an offensive rebound for a easy 2 points.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 IS it just me or does the crowd sound quiet?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Ross has a wide open Lowry for a layup but yet gives it to Amir who gets fouled..Just that kinda night.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Game's over? Sounds like it...
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 Game's over? Sounds like it... Not even close ha. Cavs are coming off a b2b with their stars playing heavy min. so I expect them to slow down a but as the game goes on. Raps offence is just not good. Missing a lot of open 3s.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 6, 2014 Posted December 6, 2014 I'm not one to complain about refs because I know how hard of a job it is to officiate basketball but these officials are just terrible.
