dineke Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 Like you said just because you have a single owner with lots of money doesn't mean its going to be successful. I'm a sens fan and Eugene Melnyk might be the worst owner in the NHL. Not only does he not spend money but he even was present in player exit interviews. He ran the greatest player in Franchise history out of town as well. Well at least you have a single person to direct your hate to.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 It's August the 23rd boys, big trade about to be officially confirmed if it hasn't already.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I'm staying up just for it. Not for Netflix. I totally remembered the trade before you mentioned it.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 If this article is correct then: Cavs: Love Timberwolves: Bennet, Wiggins, Thaddeus Young and "a trade exemption that will allow the Timberwolves to acquire a player within the next year without hindrance by the salary cap. The exemption is believed to be worth $4 million." 76ers: 2015 first-round pick from Miami (owned by Cleveland), Luc Mbah a Moute, Alexey Shved My initial reaction is that I love this deal for the T-Wolves, and wtf at Philadelphia's return. Cavs obviously get the best player in the trade, so they did what they needed to do, their offense is gonna be gud.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 (edited) Demar makes team USA! Named as members of the official 2014 USA Basketball World Cup Team were: DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento Kings); Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors); Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans); DeMar DeRozan (Toronto Raptors); Andre Drummond (Detroit Pistons); Kenneth Faried (Denver Nuggets); Rudy Gay (Sacramento Kings); James Harden (Houston Rockets); Kyrie Irving (Cleveland Cavaliers); Mason Plumlee (Brooklyn Nets); Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls); and Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors). Love Demar. His work ethic and drive should be celebrated in Toronto. Not a superstar but he's the definition of hard work. http://instagram.com/p/sB7oiYqhsR/?modal=true Edited August 23, 2014 by eastcoastjaysfan

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Can anyone explain to me why the Sixers needed to be involved in this?
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Can anyone explain to me why the Sixers needed to be involved in this? To dump Thad Young's contract while also picking up a first round pick. They're years away from contending so it makes sense.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 As predicted: http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/234734/76ers-Unsure-If-Joel-Embiid-Will-Play-At-All-This-Season Greg Oden will look like Olajuwon compared to this guy.

There wasn't really a guy I would of taken over him that was justifiable given the upside. Oden vs Durant I think was completely different.

Oden vs Durant I think was completely different. Agreed. His upside is stupid good. That article means nothing to me really, it's just the general manager being cautious with his elite talent. Sit out a little extra at 19 years old to give him the best chance at being healthy. Imagine if people wrote off Blake Griffin after he missed a full season with his knee injury? Guy has only missed 4 games in 4 seasons since then.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Ricky Rubio turned down 4/43 and wants a max deal. Just LOL
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Ricky Rubio found a way to only maintain a 16% usage rate, as a starting PG..and still be an inefficient player. Hope he breaks his leg

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 Why would you want a player to injure himself? Thats terrible Why do I wish bad things on greedy smug athletes? Because they deserve it. Im talking injuries that would effect their careers, nothing like permanent head injuries

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I would pay Rubio like 5-6M a year max. The guy is nuts.

Im talking injuries that would effect their careers, nothing like permanent head injuries So if you were an athlete and your agent told you that you could make 55-60 million instead of 40 million you would refuse? Context isn't much different if you were offered 60k/year for a city job where you felt like you could make 85k/year.

Context isn't much different if you were offered 60k/year for a city job where you felt like you could make 85k/year. If his agent told him that, he should fire him ASAP because no one is going to offer that to him. If an athlete is worth that money, I dont have an issue with it. It's when they have this over inflated sense of worth and dont just appreciate what they have is what irritates me. It's the same situation as Eric Bledsoe openly bashing his team, claiming they low balled him after they offered a very fair multi year deal. And no the context isnt the same when comparing tens of millions of dollars to 60 to even 100K. The context isnt the same at all
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2014 Posted August 27, 2014 I actually love watching Rubio play. He's actually not terrible at shooting the ball from long range but he's ridiculously terrible at converting buckets around the basket. He shoots a terrible percentage but yet, is still a positive player on the court which is a testament to his defense and passing skills.

If he isn't worth the contract to a NBA team he won't get signed. Why would it matter to me or you if he asks for something above his market value?

GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 ... I'm not gonna have to play against him, am I...? So in other news I'm moving to Nopef***thisistan.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Canada ball is really on the path to becoming a top 3, maybe even top 2 team in the world.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Crazy to think a highschool in Orangeville would be in the top 100 let alone 3 for basketball in North America..My buddy lives in a town 10 min away and went through the town a few times. Had no idea they would develop basketball players.
