Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 So what's with the Raptors getting fined for Drake pumping up KD to Toronto? It was his concert and I'm assuming the Raptors' PR department didn't give him the idea or anything. 25k is nothing to a professional sports team but still, seems like a silly fine.

At the time I posted in this thread that it's tampering Drake is employed by the Raptors and he engaged in recruiting a player under contract to another team. Seems clear cut. The fine is probably good for the Raptors anyway... a national news story is worth something real to the franchise. News of the fine will reach many more people than the initial incident did.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Those are good points North, and you're right it does give national coverage to the news.

He has really slimmed down and now that Carmelo has as well maybe the NBA is having stronger testing so players have gone off PEDs and that is why a lot of these guys are losing weight.

It's not far fetched to think any athletes takes steroids. In baseball, testing has become more rigorous and they bust people for non-testing evidence too but in all other major sports, drug policies are pretty slack. It's probably not far fetched to assume all the elite football, hockey, basketball and tennis players take steroids.

Its weird how the culture is different as in MLB you are frowned upon for the rest of your career while in the NFL its a "okay lets get you back in 4 games and all is forgotten".

LeBron has cut out the carbs. That's why he's dropped so much weight. A quick Google search please before posting next time

Its weird how the culture is different as in MLB you are frowned upon for the rest of your career while in the NFL its a "okay lets get you back in 4 games and all is forgotten". Speaking of the NFL, how ridiculous is their discipline system? Orlando Scandrick, first time offender gets suspended for 4 games for taking Molly (MDMA). Ray Rice gets 2 games for beating his wife.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Ray Rice gets 2 games for beating his wife. It's been heavily implied that the domestic violence was mutual and not initiated by Rice which I guess is why the discipline is so light. That being said you could easily argue that they should have made an example out of Rice and punished him severely in spite of this. Rice is the public figure. He's the one who is accountable to the NFL for the image he puts forth not his partner.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 They couldn't though. They have to follow the guidelines set forth by the CBA.

dineke Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 CBA sets a limit of two games? Oh I was talking about their drug policies. I don't think there is anything in the CBA for domestic violence.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 LeBron has cut out the carbs. That's why he's dropped so much weight. A quick Google search please before posting next time Yeah or maybe he is just saying that as a reason why he lost so much weight. That was my point originally. A few superstarts are saying they are going on these diets to lose weight when maybe they are not taking PEDs anymore. I mean Lebron was so jacked I don't think anyone would be that surprised based on just how big he was. There are so many guys taking PEDs in all sports that you would be shocked if all the names came out. I mean I don't think anyone doubts AP took anything to get back from his torn so quickly.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2014 Posted August 12, 2014 Steroids is a great form of drug under proper supervision and taken appropriately, I dont think anyone will dispute that. You still need to put in the work to benefit anything from it, it doesn't magically make you a superhuman. The only issue anyone should have really is in sports where the majority are clean, i.e baseball

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 If Drake really is friends with all the top basketball players, he's worth his weight in gold to the Raptors.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 25K fine to a professional sports team is nothing. He's pushing the brand and is actually good friends with Durant/Durant loves his music. I would be willing to bet Leiweke is more than fine with this
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 The publicity this has garnered is easily worth the $25k.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Dunno who this guy is but he's verified:
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Indiana probably wont even make the playoffs, let alone win a playoff game.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Did you guys see the schedule? 4 National games should be fun. Nov 13 vs Bulls on TNT!
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Did you guys see the schedule? 4 National games should be fun. Nov 13 vs Bulls on TNT! Saw that last night. Pretty shocking. #WeTheNorth better be in full display on these nights.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 Saw that last night. Pretty shocking. #WeTheNorth better be in full display on these nights. We gotta hit some games buddy
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 We gotta hit some games buddy We most definitely do! Gonna try to get to as many as I can this year.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 So apparently Tim Leiweke is leaving Toronto. Can't be good news for the Raptors.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Source: Beeston to be named the President of MLSE.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2014 Posted August 19, 2014 Hearing MLSE president/CEO Tim Leiweke will be leaving the company soon. (1/2) — Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) August 19, 2014 Not sure of where he's going, but hearing the reason is he is looking for a new challenge. — Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) August 19, 2014 -- lol What exactly did he accomplish while he was here? If he doesn't want to be here, good riddance. Thanks for the job well done but if you aren't 100% in than peace out..
