jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 By being one of the most unique and efficient offensive PFs ever? The dude is 7 feet and can get his shot off from anywhere on the court. And he's actually a pretty good rebounder considering the fact that a lot of the time he was behind the 3 pt line. He just doesn't dominate the game in every aspect the way James, Bryant, Durant, Duncan, KG does etc. He's the star player you want on the team, im not arguing that he isnt one of the best players of the game.

Frag Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 Coaching change is a must. Won't happen. See: Carlyle, Randy
theblujay Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 What legit #3s are out there though? You could try and trade up in the draft for one, I guess, but there isn't a ton out there, unless you want to sign Melo or Lebron or KD or some ridiculousness. We need to draft a Kawhi Leonard. We also need a back up defensive center and a bench wing player (Vince)
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted May 4, 2014 Posted May 4, 2014 I like Ross a lot. He's cheap and has a ton of room for improvement. Personally, I don't deal him. I just don't know how he and DD can co-exist though. Ideally they do a sign-and-trade to bring in a legit #3 and Ross comes in off the bench. The defense against elite SG/SF is simply not good enough with Ross/DD out there fulltime. Ideally Ross comes off the bench in a Jamaal Crawford type of way. Could be a big trade but I know Masai is long term thinker so he may just keep this core together and make the major push for KD. Also.... f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***f***
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Is it because he's white... wait, what are you guys talking about? Apparently Sterling nearly vetoed the Reddick deal last summer cause he didn't want to pay a white guy $7m lol. -- ECJF, that RealGM post you linked had a great idea. Sending a couple expirings for a Chandler or Green could work really well.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Is it because he's white... wait, what are you guys talking about? I just didnt agree that Dirk was an elite superstar in the league because he didnt excel at both ends on the floor the same way other stars like those guys I mentioned did.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I just didnt agree that Dirk was an elite superstar in the league because he didnt excel at both ends on the floor the same way other stars like those guys I mentioned did. I think Tim Duncan is the goat PF, but there is definitely a case that Dirk was better than Garnett. His offense makes up for the gap in defense, and Dirk has actually been a pretty underrated defender if you look at the defensive metrics. He isn't the defensive liability that the media likes people to think.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 They had a fantastic team. Ben Wallace's defense was limited but he was a fringe superstar. Billups and Hamilton were both allstar worthy. Prince and Rasheed were both fantastic as well. One of the deeper teams at that time. I'm sure you meant his offense right...?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Mavericks 2006/2011. But i dont consider Dirk an elite star First of all, the 2006 champions were the Miami Heat with Wade leading the team and Shaq not a bad 2nd option... And that Dirk statement is rather egregious.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I'm sure you meant his offense right...? lol Yes.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Ugh. There was a ton of contact on that last play. The refs could've called a foul if they wanted to.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Fouls at the end of games are never called unless it's obvious. Just the way it is.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Watching the replay of that final play is ENRAGING. Ross was clearly supposed to go to the far corner to be a bail-out option but he just inexplicably stands at the elbow (like 5 feet behind the 3 point line...) so his defender collapsed in on Lowry basically creating a triple-team. That will likely go unnoticed but another terrible, idiotic play from Ross. That probably cost them the series right there. If Lowry gets the shot off clean he likely makes it.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Also, Casey completely f***ed up the play because he drew it up from the wrong side. Wow. Just wow http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1319923

Just wow http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1319923 Casey's done some pretty idiotic things this season, and I'm sure Ujiri's thought about replacing him even after the trade. The issue is that he risks alienating the players doesn't he? Especially if they're planning on re-signing Lowry.

Almost brought me to tears At the end of the game as the team was walking off... the "Lets Go Raptors" chants just kept going. The game was already finished and everyone was obviously heartbroken but they kept showing the players love. It is a scene that I will never forget. I know that it sounds corny and stupid and stuff but I just got so emotionally invested in this team over the last 3-4 months. I truly think that great things are on the horizon and that we have something to build on here. I'm pretty bummed tonight but it's a different feeling. I cannot wait for to see what this offseason brings. Couple of savvy trades, good drafting, re-signing Lowry... We're in good shape.

I'm so proud of our fans. 10k in the square 2 hours before the game! Just an amazing atmosphere inside and out, I wish I had been able to go down the ACC for a game. "And the sea of faces roared like he was a rock star and wouldn’t let him talk. They chanted, “F--- BROOKLYN!”, his series-opening statement of defiance, and when he could finally be heard, Masai told them, “You know how I feel.” He still can’t believe what the square felt like."

GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Dwane Casey extended for 3 years. Really disappointed right now.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Didn't you suggest Mark Jackson? Casey's better than him.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Casey's a good defensive coach and the players play hard for him but he sucks at drawing up inbound plays. He should just let Nick Nurse do it for him.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 We're in pretty good shape for next season. I mean, none of Boston, Philly, NYK or Brooklyn are going to be contenders next year. Boston and Philly are still rebuilding and a ways off, New York will likely lose Carmelo and don't have the pieces to contend(and no 1st rounder), and age will likely hit Brooklyn hard, especially with them set to lose Paul Pierce to free agency, and no 1st rounder.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Dwane Casey extended for 3 years. Really disappointed right now. Yeah I only watched a half of that last game but it was the most important time of the whole season.. And their main issue seemed to be coaching. They lacked fundamentals like boxing out, allowing players to drive to the basket uncontested, a very limited offensive set many times (like the last play where they have the guard driving the lane wildly into 3 guys, they had more than a handful of terrible shot selections)... Also that inexplicable fiasco drawing up an inbounds pass incorrectly at the most pivotal point of the game.
