you could see from the opening series vs Boston that Boston was a solid team it's no mistake they are in first place and the Jays are in last

They certainly played like a great team 1/9th of the time.

lol, everyone should just ignore him.

Well really, Boston had one ridiculous inning, which I'd argue was just as much (if not more) Wang being bad compared to them being good. The rest of the game they looked very ordinary. Saying that Boston looked great today is ignoring the majority of the game.

I agree, that's why I said ignore DH12, pretty sure he is a sox fan.

I'm a jays fan but I also accept that they are basically a .500 team so I don't get too excited if they have a big losing or winning streak

They've been much better in May and June........April just killed them.

that is true.. and we have yet to see them clicking on all cylinders like the sox, so there is hope.

This is my problem with this team. i keep waiting for them to really start clicking on all cylinders and to play good consistent baseball. Ever time it looks like that's about to happen they seem to tank again. Has to be shortly, 7 games behind now.

I don't really put any stock into stuff like that. Give me information on the season as a whole - I have no interest in breaking it into segments unless there's a very good reason to do so. Reyes will help a bit, but I just don't see this as a top offense. I said it all offseason, and I've seen nothing to warrant changing my mind.

100% agreed on Reyes. He will help somewhat but will hardly put this team over the top. But I think hype wise fans expect him to do just that.

good point they need to get some consistent series wins against the leaders not a big losing stretch followed by a winning streak followed by more strings of losing series which looks to be happening again now

Well yes, I agree. Lets see what October leaves us with. I'm with you about the deadline, I really hope we stand pat. If we stay in the race and get huge gate, this team will pony up in the offseason, to replace the guys going out the door. You know my stance on this anyhow. I'm not very pleased with AA the last year, as a fan I'm really hoping the Ownership ponies up, because Alex needs it. Beeston/AA have really backed themselves into a corner, or they know something we don't.

In my mind (and a lot goes on in there), AA was told to stop striking out on free agency and this would no longer be an excuse to not get players to improve the team so they went out and made sure they didn't strike out.

I think when everyone accepts that this is a .500 team the games will be more enjoyable. Too much expectation built into this team. They just don't have the talent depth to be anything more than .500 in this division

Yes, I agree......but players will be looking at Toronto as a desired destination in the offseason is what I'm getting at. They've opened a lot of eyes in the baseball world this past winter with the acquisitions they've made. It should be much easier drawing FA's here. They did it back in the late 80's and it seemed to work then.:P

I think it'll help. Players not wanting to sign with the Blue Jays is a real thing, I know many don't agree or don't want to see it, but it is what it is.

Now, I'm not saying I agree with the course of action they took, it's just the way I read the situation, I just don't wee how a guy like AA who seemed so attached to his prospects would all of a sudden do a u turn...I've been wrong before though, lol.

This team will never change. Same old crap the last 4 games with the hitters.

Someone posed the question; does AA value OBP? Naw, and the Jays haven't in like forever.

Perfect example in the ninth inning. 2-0 count, no one on base and down by 3. Arencibia swings at a pitch that might be a strike but probably not. Gets behind in the count and strikes out. I always thought, as a hitter, if you're in a good hitter's count, you take the pitch unless it is really juicy. Not a ball that is nibbling the strike zone. It's not just him as I know everyone likes to bash this player, the whole team approach to offense is just childish and does not resemble even a wild card contender in the slightest.

How did Toronto not destroy Matt Moore the other night?

When will this organization wake up?

So if someone called you out, you'd wholly contribute to the s*** show yourself, based on what you just said.

Well that depends on your interpretation of "s***-show". If I am called out in a civil manner for something I posted I usually respond civilly giving a reason for my point of view or backing it up with facts however if someone calls me out in an aggressive manner or attacks me personally rather than the contents of my post then I will respond in kind.

The s***-show I was referring to with the Jays losses is the immediate knee-jerk reaction for every misplay/error made as if ball players are supposed to be perfect. To make matters worse their idiotic behaviour is usually followed up with asinine comments such as DFA this player, fire this person, send this person down as if the solution is really a simple matter to resolve. I call that a s***-show and it usually is at the highest when the Jays are losing.

Well then I wholly agree with you on this, as it is one of my biggest peeves from people who consistently refer to themselves as "fans". Though when Gsnarls was making the comment about the threads turning into a s***-show, I'm fairly certain he was referring to the constant bickering and arguments breaking out between posters in the game threads (one particular person being involved in the majority of said arguments). The "sky is falling" trolls that you are referring to are many as well, but I think you eventually learn to live with them because there's no way to get rid of all of them. I've gotten pretty used to people like that because the last forum I was on had plenty of them. Bitching and crying about literally every single pitch, disappearing when the team starts to win and there's nothing to complain about.

I think I meant a bit of both really. The constant reactionary negative posting during a loss is annoying enough and leads to more ugly bickering and personal attacks to boot.

This plus that = s*** show

Someone needs to photoshop the BK crown on to Dickey's head and use it as their avatar. Just sayin'

If someone did this, I'd probably alternate between that and the golden sombrero.

Do people still not understand that baseball teams go in slumps and play poorly all the time..this team has been playing great in June without Reyes, Lawrie and Morrow.

It won't help imo as many players simply don't want to play here.

Well that certainly clarified your POV and of course TwistedLogic's and mine. :)
