Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Thought it would be a good idea to have a thread where we could follow the prospects that have been traded away ... If this is too much of a touchy subject for some, feel free to lock it up haha, but I think it'll be fun to follow some of these guys.

imsorry4beatinU Verified Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 which trade is worst? JA Happ: Carlos Perez Kevin Comer David Rollins Asher Wojciechowski Joe Musgrove RA Dickey: Noah Syndergaard Travis D'arnaud Wuilmer Becerra
imsorry4beatinU Verified Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 ^ I still can't believe we gave up that much prospects for two f***ing players. Both aren't even helping our team right now!
Caper Verified Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I think he means hope that we are trading away the busts I don't understand why that is a good thing. I would love to see Eric Thames do well (doubtful). I would love to see Travis Snider lock down a job with the Pirates and lead them to a world series.... You should want a trade to work out well for the team you deal with.
Caper Verified Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 ^ I still can't believe we gave up that much prospects for two f***ing players. Both aren't even helping our team right now! You have to give up a lot... only 3 of those guys will do anything meaningful in the majors.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Fact is the starting rotation was in shambles last season/offseason, but too much was given up for Happ. I was against the Dickey trade, but they had decided to try and contend this season and were maxed out in payroll so they decided Dickey was their best choice out of the guys available. Most of the guys traded were acquired by this management team, so they must have a bit of a clue as to what they're doing...not much more than a bit though...lol. I really hated seeing D'Arnaud and Syndergaard go. Syndergaard and Sanchez would be absolutely great to have. I hope they sign Bickford under slot. He seems to have Syndergaard's potential with the good fastball command, but Syndergaard's 6'6", just a stud.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Syndergaard is going to be very, very good. I believe so too. I love the command he's shown and I'm glad to see Sanchez improving his.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Syndergaard could be better than Dickey starting NEXT YEAR. This makes me very sad. Me too and D'Arnaud will be better than JPA starting around mid-late July THIS YEAR...lol. At least Jimenez is doing well, damn TJS delayed him by a year.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Its crazy. If he thrives at AA this year, we could be talking about him coming up next year as a 21-year old. This year has really been a best-case scenario - he could very well go from good prospect to exciting young major league arm with front-rotation potential over the next year. I think we might've been saying the same thing about Sanchez were it not for the month he missed. I hope he's freakin' healthy and gets to AA to make a few starts this yea...not that it would make anyone less sad!
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 I like Syndergaard a lot more than Sanchez. At A+ results start to mean something, and Syndergaard's were elite while Sanchez and his great stuff managed some pretty pedestrian peripherals. I guess people project Sanchez's stuff to give him a higher ceiling. I wouldn't have traded either. I do think Sanchez could also have been promoted without missing a month. Anyway....
imsorry4beatinU Verified Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Syndergaard was by far my favourite prospect. When I heard it was for Dickey for D'arnaud I was pretty pissed, When I heard it included Syndergaard I broke the table beside me!
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 So Marisnick is kinda raping AA at the moment. Seems like he worked out the hitch in his swing.

I feel that man, Syndergaard is gonna be a beast and its too bad we f***ing traded him!!!!!!

GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 23.1% K% and 4.5 BB% isn't that great but dat .394 wOBA
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Nothing wrong with that K rate actually.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 Nothing wrong with that K rate actually. 23.1% K is OK
imsorry4beatinU Verified Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 AA should have waited one more year....
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 23.1% K is OK 23% with a plus hit tool plays in the majors. And you don't need a 10% walk rate if you can hit .275 with 20/20, although Jake seems to settle in around 8% after adjusting to a level.
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 At the end of the day, it hurts like f*** to see guys you developed playing that well for other teams but there's a very good silver lining; these are guys that Alex and Tinnish found, they're guys that were picked up by our scouts. That tells us something about the Jays scouting department and gives us hope for future drafts, etc.

Starling Marte 71 games - (2.5 WAR) (4.3% BB, 22.7% K) .278 Avg, .322 wOBA
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 right now the dickey trade is shaping up to be one of the worst in MLB history sad thing is everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, on this board knew it was a bad trade

imsorry4beatinU Verified Member Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 It was funny the reaction of the fan base in Toronto. The casual fans went nuts because we got the CY Young award winner. And they have no idea who the prospects were. Anyone who follows the Blue Jays closely hated it. It was a trade for the casual fans. It's just to bad those very same casual fans will hear great things about the players we gave up in a few years. Call for AA's head and call him an idiot. I still trust AA. Everything you said was right on and it was funny how "Reportors" were reporting the 3rd prospect(Wuilmer Beccerra) was a nothing prospect and then KLaw told everyone straight up. He wasn't a nothing, but one with high ceiling potential.
