Ya, that's an awesome clip. I imagine it has more to do with the brand new New Yankee Stadium vs the limitations of the antiquated Rogers Centre than the Rogers broadcast. If it's possible hopefully we'll see it soon though! That's an awesome slow-mo!

... What actual benefit does "bullet time" bring to the enjoyment of a baseball broadcast?

I'm pretty happy that they seem to be one of the few broadcasts that employ a near-full-time PitchTrax (or whatever name they're using for it at the moment.)

Why do we have multiple cameras that give different views of the pitcher/batter? Why do we have cameras facing the dugout, the crowds? e.t.c.

Entertainment. I find this view nice because it shows the path of the hitter's swing and where he hit it (out infront, late, e.t.c)

I agree that the "bullet time" doesn't add much. Its interesting, but that's about it. Once the novelty wears off, meh.

Regarding PitchTrax, I find it sort of distracting, I wish they would use it more sparingly. I also find whatever system we're using a bit inaccurate. I could just be ME that's inaccurate, but some of those spots don't pass the eye test.

The problem with that would be the tendency to over-use it just because it's there. I would be much happier with stuff like "dedicated foul line cameras" and "instant replays" and "competent umpires".

I love the pitchtrax. Sometimes i watch other games and they only show it when they weren't sure if it was a ball or strike, hate it.

How about an option to mute Buck and Tab, "Ball's hit HIGH AND DJEEEEP, Some soccer broadcasts let you mute the commentator and enjoy the sounds of the game and the home crowd. All jokes aside, baseball could use some modernization of their broadcasting.

That doesn't really annoy me.

What really annoys me when he gets all excited on a flyball thinking it's a homer when it's just a lazy flyball

Or how about that putrid call in Chicago last week where he called Bautista flyball as a potential homer then backtracked. Only for the ball to go out. He didn't even cover his ass by saying "that ball carried" or "I thought ball would be caught!"

haha yeah, that's what I meant, I should've finished the quote which would end something like "aaaand caught well short of the warning track"

Pitch tracks was a welcome addition for Jays games, I could go for some other modernizations as well, like Deadpool mentioned better replays, better tools for the umps helping them make the correct calls etc...

I don't see any reason why they couldn't do that.

There is none. It probably wouldn't cost TOO much in the grand scheme of things... The point is, is it really worth it?
