kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 At the start of the season the bulk of this fanbase wanted Lind , JPA , Cecil and to a lesser degree Rasmus Gone . Lind is hitting and getting on base better than anyone else on this team . Cecil is the best reliever on this team . Rasmus is coming around . Still K,s too much but his average is improving Only JPA continues to struggle And the darlings , Morrow has been s*** . Lawrie has been s*** Funny how baseball works .
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Lind was absolutely terrible for three years. You predicted this resurgence did you?

Sure I'll admit I was wrong on Lind and Cecil. Absolutely. No one could have predicted those turnarounds but thank goodness for them. Rasmus I thought was worth another full season and I'm glad we hung on to him Lawrie is worse offensively than anyone would have expected
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 No Most won't . I don't see some of the real Lind haters on this board admitting they were wrong I'll admit i was wrong on Rasmus . Earlier in the year I wanted to deal him , Now I'm not so sure . I was wrong on JPA , I thought he would improve both defensively and his OBP . Wrong on Morrow and Lawrie . Now I HOPE I was really wrong on the Rogers deal . I didn't like this deal and especially when Reyes went down . Kawasaki has done everything we could have asked for and If Rogers keeps improving and getting lucky that trade may turn out good . I was right on Lind . Well partly right . I flat out felt he would have a good year if he NEVER faced a lefty . Suddenly he is hitting lefties and using the whole field . Ditto Cecil who I felt would be ok against lefties but he has been lites out against everyone . Hats off to Chad Mottola
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 If we lose 26 straight, I'm blaming this thread as a jinx.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 Lind was absolutely terrible for three years. You predicted this resurgence did you? Now East , You read my posts . No I did not say he would be this good neither did I say cecil would be our best reliever Go back and read mine and spanky,s posts . We said Lind would have an OPS over 800 if he never faced a lefty . We were really wanting Gomes to platoon with him . As I posted I was partly right
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 If we lose 26 straight, I'm blaming this thread as a jinx. well IF we lose 26 strait I,ll take the blame .
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 Lind was absolutely terrible for three years. You predicted this resurgence did you? I knew f***ing well you were one who wouldn't admit you were wrong and would find something else to post about it. I,m one who admits I was wrong . like luis perez . You were the ONLY one on this board who felt he would be good if moved to the BP and we beat you up on it but I admitted to You I was wrong .
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 small. f***ing. sample size. And NOBODY worth their weight in dog s*** wanted Cecil or Rasmus gone. Everybody wanted to see how Cecil would do in the pen. This is exactly when a shrewd GM would sell high as f*** on Lindy. Sell sell sell. His BABIP is like, .400.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 small. f***ing. sample size. ******** Nick Lots wanted Cecil gone and many wanted Rasmus traded to get Gose into center and I,ll bet lind is still hitting well at years end . Not saying we shouldn't sell high on Lind but since we are all f***ing in for the next 2and a half years we might keep him as we can't replace his bat for 5 mil. It is too early to dismantle this team . Trade JJ , Oliver , davis ,Boni as long as you get value fine but you guys who want a wholesale rebuild are looking at TOO SMALL A SAMPLE to use your own words right back at you.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 Still a lot of baseball left, but I like Lind against RHP'ing, not so sure he has lefties figured out yet because of the sample size. It's surprising and I'm sure we all welcome it, I also liked Cecil as a loogy his numbers were fantastic against them the past two seasons out of the pen, but he's been outstanding like you've said against anyone. I'm hoping the Jays pick up that option on Lindy and sign Baker in the off-season as insurance with Lind, that platoon would be deadly. It's kind of a blessing we lost out to Boston with Gomes as he's been absolute s***, he can't hit anybody, lol. Rasmus has been studly so far, historically he shits the bed in the second half, we'll see how that plays out. As for Morrow and Lawrie, they've been hut so I can't say much about them two. Morrow was disappointing before he hit the DL. JPA should just DIAF!! As I posted to Nick . since we are all in for 3 years not just this one it is too early to wholesale sell off and too small a sample size of the team performance to sell low.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 Nobody was wrong for wanting to rid the team of a guy who had a combined -0.7 WAR over the previous three seasons. It remains to be seen if this is anymore than a BABIP and platoon-driven run. And even if it isn't, his track record is evidence enough to worry all over again next next year. The others are pretty unremarkable. Colby is playing like Colby and there's probably a 0.200 wOBA month on the horizon. Cecil has legit been a pleasant surprise, but he's a pen arm so it's hard to care very much. Can't totally disagree with you stache . I really bought into your platoon of Lind and while neither of us expected this we both felt he would be good enough IF he never faced a lefty . i still think that is probably true but what motivated Lind was his being DFAd last year and seeing his carreer end in site . I said many times I felt he would come to camp in shape and focused on baseball . I think he will next year too cause it is a contract year again . I would NEVER sign him to more than a one year deal . rasmus I wanted traded in May . I felt Gose would give us almost as much and the piece we got from Rasmus would help . Now I'm not sure . Can Mottola work his magic . I really did f*** up on JPA . I thought he would improve and posted that . I beat up on the guys who s*** on JPA every post but he has absolutely NO clue what the strike zone is ! NONE

Hats off to Chad Mottola Congrats on being obnoxiously self righteous. Lind has 22 ABs against LHP with 6 strikouts, no walks and a .667 BABIP. Threads like this make me sick.

You guys are wrong all the time but would NEVER admit it while I admit to being way wrong on guys like JPA If you read the wole thread you would klnow I posted that i think he should still be a platoon player
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Huh? He was talking about not facing a lefty on being right. Although a lot of peeps thought he should never face a lefty though. I'm talking about this whole stupid thread.

The more years I spend watching baseball, the more I realize that anything can happen & being first to dump on players is not a sound strategy. Lind was DFA'd last year. Cecil was on his last legs etc. Players can have up & downs in their careers. Jays fans wanted to run Aaron Hill, Alex Rios, Vernon Wells out of town a few years ago.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Well I hope you puke your guts out Boxy . You guys are wrong all the time but would NEVER admit it while I admit to being way wrong on guys like JPA If you read the wole thread you would klnow I posted that i think he should still be a platoon player Yeah, no one argued with you. This is what you seem to do, decide to take a stand against something artificial and then act like some kind of self righteous dink about it. Everyone here thought Lind would be a decent LH part of a platoon. He makes too much money to be a platoon player and he's being carried by a stupid high BABIP. No one wanted Colby gone. People were right about JPA. Cecil is whatever, a reliever. I don't remember a huge opposition to him taking a bullpen spot. All this thing is, is an obnoxious attempt to rustle everyone's jimmies. So thanks, I will puke my guts out now.

I usually ignore him but if my posts make him sick I really hope he pukes his guts out LOL On the other hand while I don't always agree with Nick and Stache they are quality posters who have opinions based on good baseball sense and voice it

kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 <>> He makes 5 mil I believe and Gomes got what ^mil? for being the RHB in a platoon ??? <<>> ******** All the Gose lovers wanted him traded. <<>>> What the f*** did I post !!!! kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 I feel like we know what Colby is now: averagish defender who strikes out a ton and has big pop. He'll have months/years where balls will fall in and UZR will be positive and he'll look great. Then well get the flip side of the coin. Solid player if you have nothing better and he isn't expensive, but not integral. So are we better off to sell now close to the deadline and let gose have the CF job .???? I was all for this in May .
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 <<<>> Ha Ha Ha , Do you think throwing stones will hurt me Boxy LOL You are so shallow
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 This thread is retarded, but since we're playing this game - where are all the f*** faced idiots that thought Josh Johnson was still a front end pitcher? Extend JJ!!!

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Your the only one worked up , Is it because you were one who was really wrong??? Impossible, I just tag along with the most popular opinion, so I can't be the only one wrong.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I predicted both Lind and Rasmus would have big seasons. Not so much for Cecil though, I was wrong on that.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Lind was absolutely terrible for three years. You predicted this resurgence did you? I said in the offseason Lind would post an OPS above .800....but I would have never guessed that Cecil is having the success he is.....

With a loss of depth (the unknown of the return on those guys), I could still live without those players. Gose is easily better than Rasmus in the field and on the bases and his bat isn't that far off what Rasmus is. Cecil's a BP arm......a smaller piece in the big picture of a team. Lind's having a nice year, but has played a lot less than a player with regular playing time, so maybe Gibbons is playing the match-ups split & pitching match-ups to Lind's advantage.
