Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I just read on minorleagueball.com comment section Sean Nolin is called up for a start on Friday.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Probably some guy who looked at the similar thread here earlier and made that connection...
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 Yeah shi David has nothing about it on his twitter. He did say about a week ago that if a need rises that Nolin is first to be called up.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 I hate that we keep doing this. Alvarez had 88 AA innings when we called him up. Hutchison 32. And now Nolin 31. This is not proper development. You think that's bad, if Johnson has another setback watch them rush Stroman to the majors
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/282-Nolin-may-start-Friday bro My bad, did not bother looking through.

This is not proper development. Do you think the Nationals rushed Harper after so few games under his belt? I trust the eyes of the scouts who look at his performance and his stuff rather than arbitrary #'s in the minors.

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 You seriously trust this organization's scouting and player development? Why? Cause you and I are no better
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Nolin isn't the big deal (Mark Hendrickson, Kirk Reuters)
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 We don't have Tampa depth, we would if we trade guys like Bautista in their primes for close to major ready players and kept replenishing the ranks. AA refuses to acknowledge you need a young core of talented players. Trade players after they had their careers years unless they're the pujols, harpers and Cabreras of the world.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 Nolin isn't the big deal (Mark Hendrickson, Kirk Reuters) He has more velocity then Hendrickson and he's shorter then him as well
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Yeah, this is exactly it. Its all well and good to have a nice group of 30-something major leaguers, but good organizations have a pipeline of talent. When Josh Johnson inevitably goes down, you want an Archer/Odorizzi/Colome to replace him, not Ramon Ortiz or a rushed Sean nolin. +1 add Colome
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 So when should we expect Nolin to have TJS? Seems inevitable.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Cause you and I are no better Are you baseball ops professionals? What a f***ing useless answer.

Perhaps there was an argument to be made against going all-in this year on the basis of our injuries. With Hutchison and Drabek out until June, and the farm lacking any ready-now prospects, any challenge was going to hinge on a healthy roster. The margin for error was minimal.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Cards (Carpenter, Westbroock and Garcia out) Shelby Miller, Trevor Rosethal, Carlos Martinez, John Gast, Seth Maness and now Tyler Lyons

Slade Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I'd still be excited to see Nolin but these rush jobs are a direct product of poor development structure and that falls directly on AA.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 You think that's bad, if Johnson has another setback watch them rush Stroman to the majors And Friday's starter is...strong possibility they announce Stroman
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 And Friday's starter is...strong possibility they announce Stroman That wouldn't be surprising, AA keeps praising him. I wonder how many innings he got in during extended spring training or whatever he was doing during the suspension.

I wonder how many innings he got in during extended spring training or whatever he was doing during the suspension. It makes for an interesting contrast, going by all accounts: Nolin is physically rusty, but has faced the true bats; Stroman should be physically strong, but has mostly faced the soft bats of spring.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Sean Nolin, scratched from start at double-A New Hampshire today, expected to start for #BlueJays on Friday vs #Orioles.
Pete_7 Verified Member Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 You think that's bad, if Johnson has another setback watch them rush Stroman to the majors Stroman is being fast tracked no doubt, but he's not a guy whos gonna sit for 2 years in the minors.
