Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 We should just play Gose and let Melky ride the pine a bit. Melky has played like complete s***, and Gose is probably an upgrade at this point. Outside of his terrible April, Melky has been fine offensively. We know his legs are an issue on defense. Why not keep EE at 3rd for another 2 weeks and DH Melky over that time, see if we can give the legs time to heal? I dislike having EE over there for too long, but for a short time period it might be well worth it.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 It's an incredibly small sample but Melky has been significantly better vs RHP this year. Perhaps a strict platoon with Davis is in the works.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 But yeah, Melky is so overrated by some of our fans because he's one of the few who can hit for a passable average. His defense sucks, he can't run, and his power is non-existant. He looks like a fringe starter this year. The juice obviously helped him significantly.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Still not sure how someone in worse shape than a NFL Center is in our outfield everyday while our best young player rides the pine
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I'd really prefer that they just DL him. He just isn't hitting for any power. May was better, but he still has just 2 extra-base hits in his last 15 games and none in his last 8. I loved the signing, but he's looked awful here. Like a fat 38-year old slap hitter with bad legs. Only he's 28. He isn't hitting the home runs, but last month he did have an .821 ops and .460 slugging (along with 10 doubles). I'd really just like to see him dh for 2 weeks and let the legs heal, assuming we keep Lind and EE in the lineup during that time.

Sparky12 Verified Member Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I would have liked gose to stay up he didn't look out of place at all. Something like this until Lawrie returns is what I would have done: Melky DH Bautista RF EE 3B Lind 1B Colby CF Arenciba C Boni 2B Kawasaki SS Gose LF
JoJo Parker Dunedin Blue Jays - A SS On Tuesday, Parker was just 1-for-5, but the one hit was his first professional home run. Explore JoJo Parker News >
