Bailey will get the closer's role once he's off his DL stint. This will be Buccholz's second start versus the Jays, the first was in Rogers Center where he pitched 7 shutout innings while striking out 8 In 7 games this season between these two teams, the Jays have been out scored (39-20), out homered (16-7) and out pitched (6.00 Jays ERA against the Sox) so far. Jays: Morrow's Sunday start is still not 100% confirmed, as he's still down in Florida getting re-evaluated. We won't know about his status until closer to tomorrow's game Mark Buehrle needs to have a solid game, for the sake of resting the bullpen and trying to have any chance of staying competitve this season. The lefty has had problems with giving up too many hits and the long ball. In his last start, he gave up 7 runs on 2 homers (including a grand slam to Longoria) and a double to the Rays, but the Jays did rally back to win 8-7 that day. Ramon Ortiz pitched a solid 5 innings only giving up one run. It was the BP and offence however that didn't turn up to play, as the Jays got 1 hit off of Lester (Izturis double) and had no walks. The bullpen (Cecil and Storey actually) gave up the other 4 runs, this turnout was completely the opposite of what Jays fans thought would happen Standings: http://i.imgur.com/ugE615l.png Venue: http://www.andrewclem.com/Baseball/Diag/FenwayPark.gif I hope you guys enjoy the game and the GDT! Please leave feedback and ideas/improvements for future GDTs!
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Interesting lineup! At this point, why not change things up!
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 Interesting lineup! At this point, why not change things up! Yup, why not?
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 THE BLUE JAYS ACTUALLY PUT THEIR BEST HITTER 2ND! ITS A MIRACLE! Eddy should still be 4th but I won't nitpick. Two questions: Is hitting your best hitter 2nd a good thing? and who would bat 3rd if the Jays put Eddy 4th and Bau 2nd? Lind? JP?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Interesting lineup! At this point, why not change things up! Yup, why not? JJ 2 more outing and traded him
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 Your best overall hitter should hit 2nd. Then of your next best two, the one with more SLG should hit 4th and the other high OBP guy should lead off. 5th is then the next most important, so Lind is fine there. Then third is next, so whoever has the best OBP of who is left (Lawrie). Cabrera Bautista Lawrie Encarnacion Lind Rasmus Arencibia Bonifacio Kawasaki That doesn't look bad at all!
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 That doesn't look bad at all! Right now "The order of the factors does not alter the product" 2x3 = 3x2 = 6
dmrich28 Verified Member Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 MB with that 7.02 ERA sure grabs your attention. Hope he puts together a good effort today, these next 2 games are desperately needed.
Tuco Verified Member Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I put 13$ on the Jays today Got a feeling Buerhle will pitch well
OtisNixonFan Verified Member Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I put 13$ on the Jays today Got a feeling Buerhle will pitch well Don't ask me how or why but I also feel the same.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 GODDAMMIT!!! My flight to Boston got cancelled this morning! PISSED!!!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 What!?!? Why? Technical problems with plane. Re-booked on 1:00 flight. Others with tickets to game today equally annoyed.
theblujay Verified Member Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 This team is beyond a disaster right now. Its funny how I had more faith in Ramon Ortiz than Buehrle to pitch well. Hopefully we can manage more than 1 hit today.
theblujay Verified Member Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Just so you guys know theres supposed to be some rain showers in the Boston area this afternoon, but I think we should be able to play.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Just so you guys know theres supposed to be some rain showers in the Boston area this afternoon, but I think we should be able to play. I'm hoping for a 1-2 hour rain delay. Hahaha. Sorry.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 You're a complete fool if you have more faith in Ortiz. I think he was more suggesting how little faith he has in Buerhle
theblujay Verified Member Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I think he was more suggesting how little faith he has in Buerhle Yep. I seriously expected a better game from Ortiz than I expect from Buehrle today.
The_DH Verified Member Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 What do you think happens with Buchholz today vis a vis the stuff he puts on his fingers?
dmrich28 Verified Member Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 if we're lucky it'll rain everywhere until around the all-star break

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I put 13$ on the Jays today Got a feeling Buerhle will pitch well they cant lose every game... lol why not win this one
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Gibbons = Bill James Gibbons has not made many mistakes this year. he's tried to work with limited talent showing up. he has adapted quite quickly to what he sees falling apart on the field
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I'm hoping for a 1-2 hour rain delay. Hahaha. Sorry. I would love a 1 hour delay. that way I'd get to see the end of the FA cup before baseball.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Morrow pushed back to Wednesday at earliest: @SNBarryDavis: Morrow says he can throw but wouldn't be affective. Says he plans to start Wed. That would make Jenkins your starter Sunday. #bluejays

Metallijay Verified Member Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 You're a complete fool if you have more faith in Ortiz. How so? Ortiz 5 inn 1 run, buerhle's 7 + era is horrendous.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I would love a 1 hour delay. that way I'd get to see the end of the FA cup before baseball. OK let's start a double synchronized rain dance. That's gotta be more *effective* (ahem, Barry Davis) right???
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 jays rotation is now Buehrle, Dickey and whatever scrub they can scrape off the bottom of the barrel.
