Sierra as a RH DH/bench bat would be so good to have. they are missing an extra power bat. cant expect DeRosa to be the hero every night. lol

Sierra isn't really hitting for much power, though the power is there. He's been driving gaps and hitting line drives.

Also not sure you DH a guy who throws 98 mph.

DH, RF to Give Jose a night as DH for a bit of a rest. I'm sure they can rotate him in for enough AB.

Hard to worry about the BB rate when he's hitting .360 and coming up with 2 strike singles to all fields. That shows maturity. I can agree that Gose is fine but I need to add that he's not ready. He's fine as a talent and with his development.

.360 Avg isn't sustainable; take a walk or you stay at minors.

LOL, okay there, Kirk, I'm gonna quote this every single time you bitch about Arencibia.

If someone would teach me how to run a regression, that'd be awesome, I could see how Sierra would be doing sans-.430 BABIP.

Actually, Jerry eats in the press box 95% of the time with the rest of the media. The only thing worse than a know-it-all is a know it all who consistently makes s*** up.

Jesus Christ, this guy.

Just to throw out a quick number, I looked at what his average would be if his BABIP had been .333 so far this season, as it was in AAA last year.

Since BABIP = (H - HR) / (AB - K - HR + SF), we can solve for hits and plug in some numbers: H = BABIP (AB - K - HR + SF) + HR = 0.333 (86 - 16 - 1 + 1) + 1 = 24.31. This would give him a BA of ~0.283.

He's playing in a different park, though, this year, I'm not sure what the league average BABIP is for the IL this year, but it can't be .333.

Quite true, which is why I put the disclaimer of a "quick number." I'll admit very little thought or research went into my post. :D

Haha, the math went a bit over my head anyways. I prefer to analyze the stats, not do the math required for them. :P

Fair enough. I was being flip. I believe that Sierra has 5 BB and 16 K. That isn't horrendous.

It's not JPA/Goins bad, but the kid isn't more than a 4th OF.

Have you seen his routes to fly balls? The Ringling Brothers have more interest in his OF skills than any rational MLB front office.
