Pompey was a shoe-in because they like to have at least one Canadian involved (for the World team). Norris is great.

With all the Dominican and Venezuelan studs, Pompey deserve the whole credit.

They're in the same boat. Control issues.

Well, in Smorals case. It's basically impossible to be that big and not have control issues.

Nick (Windsor): Hey Jordan, i was combing through some minor league stats this morning, i was very surprised to see D.J. Davis has only 7 stolen bases on the season. I know he has really struggled with the bat but this seems very low for someone that is supposed to have 70+ speed. Have you seen or heard anything on Davis this season?

Jordan Gorosh: I have actually seen Davis in person, and came away even more underwhelmed than other's reports indicate. He had virtually no approach at the plate, and poor awareness on the basepaths. His routes were decent in CF, although having big time speed doesn't hurt. I wouldn't bet on the tools actualizing in his particular case. I'd take Anthony Gose over him, who I don't think will ever hit, and that's not saying much.

From BP Chat.

Uh, damn..

Don't know the injury but he hasn't pitched since the middle of May.

That's not enough to say he's broken lol

Sure the numbers weren't great early in the year but still you can't completely just write him off because of that and his injury.

What? I never said anything about his numbers, I put him in the same category as Cardona. "Broken"... He's injured.

Well if you don't know his injury and aren't factoring in his numbers there's no way you can call him broken.

That's great. What did they say?

Described their makeup and how highly scouts think of them

Said both having all star seasons

Showed basic stats and level of play

Mentioned Norris promotion to AA

Said they could be with the big team sooner than later

Then went off on whether you should trade these guys for Shark or not. LOL. Tabby couldn't make up his mind.

Then they discussed Jeff Kent and showed the Word Series banners.

Goddammit if we had just gotten Santana signed we could be standing pat on the rotation right now and keep all these guys

Then as some of these guys develop in to major leaguers we could gradually trade away the vets and get younger

I recognize it's easy to be romantic about your proscpcts and the reality is that most will never make it. But I just hate to trade away 2-3 more really good prospects right now. :(

lol..now you're just being a dick. Who cares? He's injured. That was my point, it doesn't really matter if I said "broken" or "injured". They've both had subpar years due to both of them being injured.

Well that wasn't my intention. For pitchers broken carries more serious connotation than injured. Just wondering if their was extra info about his injury.

Fantastic start again for Norris. Looking like a top 50 prospect more all the time.

Listening to the Portland feed. They are raving about Norris. Saying he is 1 or 2 best picture they have seen all season.

Games on MILB.tv, if you want to watch.

They compared this start to the dominance of when they saw Gerrit Cole.

Is it free? Link?

Norris through 2 starts in AA.

19K and 4BB through 11 innings.

Not bad!

If my Maths are correct, 15.5 K/9 and 3.3 BB/9...

Plus I'm sure the C cost him at least 1 BB so lower BB/9.

There's a chance Norris could hold an MLB rotation spot before Sanchez too. If he throws five more starts like this they could promote him again. Why not.

Please don't trade him AA.

I'd like to see him finish the season at AA and if he finishes strong and has a good ST, send him to AAA. It would be pretty nice to have Sanchez, Norris, Nolin and guys like McGuire and Hendriks as SP and long relief depth.
