G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Awesome. Man, I can't wait to see his major league debut
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 (edited) Awesome. I love that he's so badass and cool that that it doesnt seem wussy, ridiculous or self-aggrandizing for him to tweet about it Edited September 16, 2013 by G-Snarls

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Ryan Goins best defensive 2B ever If AA thinking that helps prevent him from trading Stroman and Sanchez, so be it...
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 If AA thinking that helps prevent him from trading Stroman and Sanchez, so be it... More franchise crippling: trading Sanchez and Stroman for a really good 2B or playing Goins at 2B next year?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 More franchise crippling: trading Sanchez and Stroman for a really good 2B or playing Goins at 2B next year? My brain hurts from trying to decide Do I have any other choices???
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 More franchise crippling: trading Sanchez and Stroman for a really good 2B or playing Goins at 2B next year? How good of a 2B are we talking about... Would it be a Kipnis or Altuve?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Dermody kwERA over 40.2 IP is 2.11. Kyle Drabek is the guy. -5.56 kwERA
theblujay Verified Member Posted September 19, 2013 Author Posted September 19, 2013 This list has a huge omission for some reason. Marcus Stroman. 111.2 IP 2.736 kwERA. 28.1% K% and 5.9% BB% almost identical to Syndergaard, with only 6 less IP. He's so underrated by many on here.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Jason Parks of Baseball Prospectus on Matt Smoral; The 6'8" Smoral is one of the most intriguing and favorite arms I saw all season. His fastball sits easily in the 91-94 range while hitting 95 at times. While that is very solid coming from the left side, it's his slider that sucks me in. It's already a plus pitch sitting at 82-85 with tilt and a sharp bite that is effective to both righties and lefties alike. When he's commanding the fastball the slider is a devastating swing-and-miss pitch that he can throw in any count. AA is accumulating quite the stable of high upside LHP'ers -- Nolin, Norris, Smoral, Brentz, Smith. Lietz, Mayza as well but less so.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 Sure Syndergaard has a year on Stroman, but Stroman has put up comparable numbers. He might be atop my prospect rankings now. It's Sanchez/Stroman and then everyone else IMO. They have definitely distinguished themselves from this group IMO.
ace3113 Verified Member Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Not Jays news, but for the guys who wanted us to draft Braden Shipley, he looks pretty good stuff wise. Fastball 93-96 (lots of 96), plus-plus change, average to above average curve. Hopefully the guy we get at 11 this year is as good or better. Luckily it's a really strong class. http://vimeo.com/75284318
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Really wanted him It sucks, and I wanted him really bad too, but there's a great chance we get someone just as good if not a lot better than him in this draft. Patience
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Can one of your twits send a tweet to Hayhurst or Nicholson-Smith asking them to do a review of Anthopoulous' trades and how much talent he gave up as well as his drafting? I don't tweet so I can't do it.
Frag Verified Member Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Is Daniel Norris a "Tumbler"? No.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Thanks for sharing Frag. I would agree that Norris stock is on the rise. Norris has dominant stuff from the left side. If he can keep the ball down he will have a long MLB career. The velo and breaking stuff are there, his stock will keep going up as long as his BB-rate keeps dropping.
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Is Daniel Norris a "Tumbler"? No. I also disagree with this part of the original Fangraphs article by Marc Hulet that was under review; The 2013 Draft Pick: Clinton Hollon, RHP: To call Toronto’s 2013 draft a disappointment would be an understatement when the organization failed to sign its first round draft pick. Hollon was the club’s highest pick that actually signed but he comes with makeup questions and his bonus was reduced after concerns were raised with his post-draft physical. Despite those concerns, he had a strong debut in Rookie ball. I'm not disappointed with the 2013 draft. I think AA got a fair bit of talent in a weak draft. I'm expecting a great draft in 2014 with two top 12 picks in a stronger draft.
