From what I hear Barreto and Lugo have both been impressive. The system hasn't had this kind of MIF talent since Adams and Hill. I just wish they were closer to the majors!

No real power projection would likely stop him long term, but he could probably carve out couple years as a full time guy frm 26-30ish, then be that rotating 4th OF that gets 250 PA every year after that, filling in over short stretches due to injury. I know we've all heard the Reed Johnson comparison's and that's probably what he's looking at.

Really hard to project anyone as a long term full time player in the OF when his power ceiling is probably 10-12 HR

Pillar 4/4 4 Doubles

Also worth mentioning tha Reed Johnson put up 4.4 fWAR / 5.1 bWAR in 2006 in his career year at age 29 while only hitting 12 HR

If he can play a decent CF, there could be plenty of playing time with Gose or Rasmus in CF next year. Good to see Pillar, Jimenez and Burns doing well, even if they're not projected as cornerstone players.

Super Scout Reyes said the Dunedin 3B will play in the Majors, he probably told the farm director this and that's why he's in AA now.

Pillar 4/4 4 Doubles

Non prospect Adam Loewen 5-5 today, all singles, mashing over his last 10 games. Non-prospect of course, but still nice to see.

Pillar very unclutch. 4-4 in th game and he comes up with an insurance run at 2b, 2 outs... Dribbler to SS....

Barreto 3-5 with 1r and 1rbi today to bring his average up to .444

With how well he's doing I'm tempted to throw most of our bonus pool (maybe 2.2mm) at shortstop Glebyer Torres on July 2 to beat out the Cubs. Torres is said to be very similar to Barreto except with more power (15-20 per year) and a better chance to stick at short. Both were trained by Ciro Barrios, who we have done a lot of business with in the past.

I am so pumped Pillar got 4 doubles.... he's not our best prospect.... but he is my favorite. I want to toast with Adam Greenwood.

Kevin Pillar doubles (3) on a line drive to left fielder Brandon Boggs.

Kevin Pillar doubles (4) on a sharp fly ball to center fielder Todd Cunningham

Kevin Pillar doubles (5) on a line drive to left fielder Brandon Boggs. Sean Ochinko to 3rd.

Kevin Pillar doubles (6) on a line drive to right fielder Joey Terdoslavich.

I think Pillar could replace Melky right now.

The guy knows how to hit, and doesn't show any difficulty advancing levels.

I think you greatly underestimate the jump in skill level from AA to AAA and finally to the majors. I have no real doubt that Pillar will make the majors, and will probably contribute pretty well in a 4th OF only replacement getting 250-300 PA in a season.

I'm not sure we do. Me and Adam both liked David Cooper as well and even when he struggled when he was called up we still liked him. I always felt that if David Cooper stayed he would have OPS'ed over .820... not too great considering his position... but a solid hitter. I feel Pillar has the same hitting ability, with a lot more to offer. I'd like to see him up, even if he struggles to begin to watch him blossom into a much better player.

Stroman 5IP 3H 2R 0ER 2BB 4SO

Last 5 starts

26IP 1.38ERA 16H 8BB 24SO

Anyone know the details of the 2 unearned runs? Were they legit errors by the fielders or generous scoring in Stroman's favor? Thanks.

Lol you are askign too much. In the long run, 2 unearned runs won't be telling of his performance. Heck you can even argue stats isn't directly correlated with performance.

1)Edgar Duran reaches on a fielding error by left fielder Brian Van Kirk. Edgar Duran to 2nd.

Maikel Franco singles on a ground ball to center fielder Adam Loewen. Edgar Duran scores.

Jim Murphy walks. Maikel Franco to 2nd.

2)Albert Cartwright reaches on a fielding error by third baseman Andy Burns.

With Tyson Gillies batting, wild pitch by Marcus Stroman, Albert Cartwright to 2nd.

Tyson Gillies grounds out, second baseman Ryan Schimpf to first baseman Clint Robinson. Albert Cartwright to 3rd.

"I think you greatly underestimate the jump in skill level from AA to AAA"

It's funny. When Pillar was raking in A+ and HJM was stinking up AA, people said that the jump to AA was the toughest of them all.

Then when Pillar was raking AA, and Gose was stinking up AAA, people said the jump to AAA was the toughest of them all.

And now that Pillar is raking AAA (I know it's SSS, but you don't get four doubles in a game by luck), now it's the jump to MLB that's the toughest.

Beyond some residual steroid effects, Melky doesn't have anything Pillar doesn't have.

Hit tool? Equal.

Speed? Advantage Pillar.

Defense? Equal.

Arm? Equal.

Power? Equal.
