Why would North roster Owings past the cut? I like the House side of this.

I'm seeing this as House for pick #15, mostly. Maybe Owings just lets North trade Lowrie if the opportunity arises... lots of people need shortstops.

I like Owings a bit, he's got some power. Could be a 15/15 guy in that park and should stick at SS, and maybe be a multi position dude.

I hadn't seen the thread - just Boxy's post saying House for Owings. House for a 1st rounder pre-cut is fair for both sides IMO.

House really isn't that great for the DDL settings, lol. Successful overhype by North.

Lol. He didn't overhype him at all. He wanted Owings. House was my idea.

Makes sense for both sides, but I like it for North in the end.

I like both Owings and House even though they both have flaws. I feel like the sizable pick upgrade makes it a win for him on paper but Owings was a redundant piece for me and I was short a healthy SP so I wasn't going to let haggling over pick value get in the way.

Danny Santana is available if teams are looking for a SS - still is a solid bat for these settings and has some speed!

I'd spent the whole offseason trying to get a top shortstop to no success, so I figured taking a chance on an unestablished guy with a firm job made sense. I don't love Owings' core skills but his profile is reasonably built for fantasy.

Losing House makes me sad but pitching depth isn't a concern for me at this point.

Looks like I got in and out of the Tanner Roark game just at the right time. Got him for a pick from Spanky before the season and flipped him for Khrush Davis before the end.

The Nats actually have some experience with this. They buried John Lannan in AAA in 2012 after he had a good ERA year in 2011 and four straight decent back-end MLB seasons (nowhere near as good at pitching as Roark though). He demanded a trade, Nats never obliged, and they ended up non-tendering him after 2012.

Considering they have Blake Treinen, Taylor Jordan, and AJ Cole (also Joe Ross in AA/AAA), I wonder if they'll take the different road and just trade Roark right now.

Alternatively, make him a long reliever I guess. Fister, Stras aren't exactly pictures of health. People have long doubted Scherzer's mechanics. Gio throws a lot of breaking balls (less lately).

Which pick was it for Roark?

Pretty nice little game of "one red paperclip" for you. Although Davis' stock is down notably from this point last year.

Is there a fourth word for Donair/Doner, Shawarma, and Gyro?

If so, and we have four words that mean the same thing, we could rename our divisions for vertical spit meat synonyms.

If not, I suppose we could just name Boxy's division after Falafel.

Is a donair a sandwich? That's questionable.

Doner is the way you cook the meat.

That's like saying, is barbeque a sandwich.

Then is a hot dog a sandwich? I don't think I want to open this can of worms.

I would agree on this. It's the type of issue that could potentially tear the league apart.

The donair's standard method of transportation is the gyro, which is a flatbread. That's not a true sandwich IMO, which must contain both an upper and lower bread, hinged or otherwise.

Nice, I still see Roark getting starts, especially if they move Zimm or Stras.

If a gyro is a sandwich then a folded pizza is a sandwich. I'm not sure we want to go there, as a culture.

Here's a skill testing question - is an open faced "sandwich" with one slice of bread a sandwich? Or, is this just a misnomer?

No, then it's New York style.

Sure, but I demand my Jewish culture be acknowledged.

(Sorry, I'm edgy today after North "out-Jew'd" me)
