The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Can't think of any deals I regret at the moment. That could change in the future though when prospects start playing more.

Laika Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 Havok gives Anibal, Holland, and pick 66 for Zunino, Cishek, and JBJr. Ouch
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Can we not relive that horrifying experience?

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 I regret every trade I ever made in this league. So suck farts, all of you.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 I regret throwing in Miguel Montero to my trade for Mauer with jays_fever last year. Montero's bounced back to previous levels and having him would have allowed me to flip McCann or trade Mauer without receiving a catcher in return. The five-team deal didn't work out as hoped because Prince has been a zero, but Rizzo broke out as expected so I'm doing okay. I don't regret making the deal. Can we use the term RizzBros? *high five*
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Oh man...yours aren't even that bad, step aside. Trading Pick 1 (Bryant) + Parnell for Fister + B. Hamilton (both later moved with parts for Upton.) I needed a pitcher to try and keep pace in my division and reasoned pick 1 was a lottery luxury worth cashing in. Fister was not going to save that sinking ship, bad decision. Trading Wily Peralta for Berkman and a middling pick. Peralta instantly turned his career around, Berkman sucked for a short while before getting injured and retiring. His decline was so precipitous I was hoping he was due to rebound and really needed a bat after CarGo went down. Ouch. Trading Khrush + Morton for Liriano + Lake I felt like Davis was too good to sit on my bench after I traded for Upton (probably right) and thought if Liriano could put up 80% of his 2013 he'd help a lot (definitely wrong.) I did not want Lake and was reluctant to include Morton. Hitting accept was pretty stupid, really. Releasing Aybar after trading for Villar. Oops! I also have night terrors involving thrashing around while screaming DONALDSON!!! but not sure what that's about. Don't worry, CarBro. Our saviour will be back shortly, taking BP with no pain! Woo woooooo

BTS Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Jedd Gyorko available for a 2nd round pick.

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 John Lackey is available for the right price. He's a #2 fantasy starter: elite in K/BB, OBPA, decent in everything else. Want an offensive upgrade or perhaps prospect(s).
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Gyorko sold to FTD for his 2nd. Ugh, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he's a top-10 2B next year. He was just not going to survive roster cuts without a couple of strong months to finish the season, and it looks less and less like that's going to happen.

I'm going to struggle cutting down for this as well. The way I see it, I'm just going to hope he shows me something with a strong finish. Worst case scenario, I think I can move him for a 3rd rounder in the offseason before cuts. I'm willing to eat that potential loss for a chance at some upside.

Great stash for teams with roster spots. 25-year old with a demonstrated ability to provide above-average offense at 2B is a much safer lotto ticket than a 2nd rounder IMO.

Other owners have been saying for a while that the starting pitching market is frustratingly non-existent. I'm just seeing what's out there.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Also, who are you dropping? He's on waivers right now so I can't add him. Can you manually add Gyorko to my roster for Affeldt?
TRM Verified Member Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 I would have traded my second for Gyorko had I been online.

I'm just seeing what's out there. I found it the toughest trading Kyle Lohse by himself and the guy has been a great fantasy No. 2 starter, similar to Lackey. My price tag wasn't that expensive and there were many teams in contention that passed. I had to package him with some other vet pieces to get something good back, which I was willing to do. Might have to do the same with Lackey. I find many managers on here undervalue solid veteran hitters and pitchers. If you're contending, a pitcher like Lohse or Lackey can be a huge upgrade to any rotation.

BTS Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 So after lugging his worthless ass around all season, BTS took probably the 39th pick instead of low 20s because hours? Lol. I posted that he was available 2-3 weeks ago. One person inquired and wouldn't move a 2nd rounder. Everyone saying they wanted him can kindly f*** off.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 3, 2014 Author Posted July 3, 2014 I was sitting here thinking about offering my 2nd + more for a Jerko buy low, with Wright still missing time. Damn.

NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 I don't think there's much there with Gyorko, to be honest. Derek Dietrich is a free agent second baseman who is a year young, has better career stats, and has just as clear a shot at playing time. Better projections too. Literally the only difference is the distribution of their past production. Because Gyorko's was all concentrated in one season (a fairly arbitrary collection of 182 days), he has a better reputation. Everyone who wanted to give up a second rounder for Gyorko should go rush to grab Dietrich.
