Things are tougher in the Reuben than people think. 10 win week and lose ground. two weeks remaining and 8.5 games to pick up just isn't going to happen. Still enjoyed destroying a well set up team this season.

It would be pretty disappointing if a Stephen Strasburg type jumped right to the majors and skipped the draft entirely.

This kind of shocking debuts have always been part of our system.

 

With the old draft timing it was international players that could debut without ever being subject to a draft

 

Now it's MLB draft players.

I actually like the wrinkle of the occasional blue chip asset being distributed via the waiver system, whether an early draft pick debut or a late international FA signing.

I don't like it because it turns the waiver wire order into an asset that causes anyone in the top 5 to hold on to it instead of making regular claims. You hold on to it waiting for the big fish that might not ever come, allowing the ppl who are low enough not to give a s*** claim where you "cant".

 

J2 guys are one thing, but for a guy like Stras it wouldn't be "little wrinkle", it would be a pretty devastating blow to a bottom feeder to miss him entirely.
