Hmmmm

Should we redraft?

No. The problem is that a lot of the bottom half of the league doesn’t try, not that it’s too difficult to catch the best teams.

My pitching staff is trash. The only valuable players who started the year on my team and actually contributed are Kirby and Gilbert. But my pitching is top-5 because I buy low on useful crusty vets when I have a chance and cycle through the waiver wire to round out the staff. Any team can do this, but half the league can't be bothered.

Jaysblue came a hair from winning the league last year with a trash tier pitching staff and stars and scrubs offense because he took the time to find a bunch of good SP/RP guys and was basically unbeatable in saves, holds and ratios by the time the playoffs rolled around.

This is probably true. We have seen numerous teams go from worst to great in the LOD and that's a way tougher league.

I took Boston from last to #1. Danger took Gibbers' mess from nearly last to one of the best teams.

Lots of owners in the DDL are just paralyzed. They don't know what to do, I think.

I can respect what I don’t do. I can never have enough money paying out of pocket for college, but there’s the guys that:

Return bottles, always look for coupons at the grocery store before they shop knowing what they’ll buy, take advantage of any rebate they can, look for any tax loophole, pick coins up off the street, etc

This sounds like your fantasy strategy and it seems to work. Not sure if you could monetize the method with a book or something

It's not an accident that you and Danger are both very active and were able to turn your teams around quickly. You can't really check out for a year and then expect to gain ground on teams that are paying attention every day. Which is what a lot of teams in DDL are trying to do. FTD is going to have a juggernaut soon because he's been working the wire and making moves throughout his rebuild. A bunch of other owners will continue to not make any progress.

Hurl, for example, should have been all over Stroman when I was shopping him for a 2nd or 3rd because of a perceived (rightly or wrongly) roster crunch. But he sat there for weeks with no offers until a rich team got richer just because they were engaged and paying attention.

There are teams in the league like 30 games under 0.500 who just ignore offers on guys in their mid-30s. So yeah, they're never going to have good teams.

I've made the playoffs the past 7 years in a row just from being active. Hoping to make it 8, but I've slightly neglected my roster this year, been concentrating more on the LOD.

When you guys decide to give it some legitimacy and make it tougher, throw up the ConnorP bat signal.

You'd be a clear improvement on at least 3 current owners, TBH

I’ve made some offers in recent weeks but haven’t gotten much traction. Doesn’t help that I’ve repeatedly mortgaged the future and have a threadbare farm. Normally a team in my standing would rebuild, but I am pot-committed and have to hope that Vlad, Alcantara, Correa, and Stanton can return to form in the second half. I also have like 13 pitchers on the IR, which can’t be ideal.

Still, would be very willing to trade my 1st rounder/any prospects for a helpful upgrade, particularly in pitching.

Hoping the same plan works again this season given the injuries in my starting rotation.

I can't believe how much Tim Anderson sucks.

What did you give me for him anyway

Scherzer?

That's the plan. I thought about making moves to strike this year, but didn't want to prematurely blow my load.

I want to give it one more year for my young guys to start getting called up, and then I'll deal some of my youth for vetz to make a push.

BTS rekt me in our divisional matchup

I’d been hunting you down for first in the Monte Cristo division since week 1.

I couldn’t remember for sure but I thought I had been in first all year. Good clean fun!

If the playoffs started today, Dinger (2 games under 0.500) would make the playoffs and TCA (17 games over 0.500) would be out.

Le Division Reuben has really fallen on dark days. f***in’ AL Central up in here.

"it's good for baseball when everyone in the Reuben sucks" - Rob Manfred (probably)
