Incase someone wants to pick through probable cuts, I'd move these guys for pick upgrades. Only have room for 1 of them, probably will be Dominguez.

Adam Engel

Kole Calhoun

Trevor May

Adam Plutko

Tyler Rogers

Sergio Romo

I've received some strong offers on Honeywell but I'll need time to decide if I'm going to end up keeping him or not. A couple of the proposals are very interesting but I'm on the edge about. Get your offers in!

Did Porcello get traded for nothing?

Edit: Yeah, that happened???

He got traded for my Skaggs comp pick (41) that isn’t in Fantrax

Pick 41 (Skaggs death comp pick) to Org for Porcello

That's right.

Ohh...

You gave up 41 for Porcello, yet hated me at a 3rd and a 5th kickback with Fiers... wow

Mike Fiers definitely sucks and Rick Porcello only probably sucks.

Mike Fiers has 8.0 RA9-WAR in the last two years compared to 3.3 for Porcello.

bWAR is 6.3 to 4.3

fWAR 3.1 to 4.2

Mike Fiers might be good! f*** Steamer.

I'll take, uh, neither in fantasy though.

I think they’re both serviceable as an SP7 or 8. Both right on the keep/cut threshold because most bad teams would prefer to gamble on upside, and most good teams have better options.

Fiers is probably going to give you Mike Leake numbers, with a few more walks and a lower ERA because of the favourable home park.

I like Porcello a bit better.

Fiers is 34, Porcello 31

Fiers career fWAR 10.7, Porcello 27.9

Porcello higher K/9

Porcello lower FIP 4 of last 5 years

Porcello > Fiers, no question

It’s pretty easy to see both hitting the waiver wire this year. Probably > 50% probability for Fiers.

Historically, sure. Although teams don't get awarded wins based on FIP.

Going forward - lots of questions.

I'm trading Cal Quantrill to Abom along with my fourth round waiver for his first round waiver (#4 overall). Abom to confirm.

I don't believe waiver picks are on Fantrax right?

Yeah we haven't decided how to track them on Fantrax yet. Still on the spreadsheet. Although we could probably just add a list to the Notes or Articles section.

I was asked about removing the compensation for player deaths (etc.) provisions. Seemed like a vote situation so I started a poll in Fantrax on it.

It is pretty insane that we've had 4 death compensations in this league already. IMO you should only be compensated for the death of a franchise-crippling star, I'm just not sure how to quantify that. Guys like Tyler Skaggs and Yordano Ventura really don't warrant it, but I guess a second round sandwich pick doesn't hurt anybody.

I've never understood why any deaths warranted compensation. Why shouldn't career ending injuries warrant compensation? In both cases, the player is of no use to you. Risks and bad luck are an inherent part of fantasy sports. Should Devon Travis have returned compensation after weird injuries destroyed his career?

I should be awarded compensation for the future trade crippling that occurred after I traded Tavares and Yordano. I don't think I've done a deal with Boxy since... the true victim is me...

yes this is dark sarcasm you swine!

Adam Frazier 2B - PIT

Joey Wendle 2B,3B,SS - TB

I'm not happy with the precedents anymore and honestly wish we never started.

I know it began with Oscar Taveras and Jose Fernandez, who were more catastrophic losses. Not sure why I/we felt the need to compensate for the lesser guys.

It's just so much simpler going forward to not do it at all. Tough luck to the owner whether it's death, retirement, injury, or the law.

The vote is 6-4 right now so it could go either way.

I voted to keep it, but that's only because I was compensated, you can swing my vote the other way if you want, just my 2 cents.
