Laika Community Moderator Posted December 26, 2019 Author Posted December 26, 2019 Flinging around some offers with Gio Urshela in them if anyone wants him. Such a stud last year
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 I could move a prospect for an upgrade on Britton or Hansel Robles: Brayan Rocchio Jesus Sanchez Alex Canario Jorge Mateo Ronaldo Hernandez Leody Taveras Michel Baez
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 Robinson Chirinos available for a 2021 pick upgrade.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 Incase someone wants to pick through probable cuts, I'd move these guys for pick upgrades. Only have room for 1 of them, probably will be Dominguez. Adam Engel Kole Calhoun Trevor May Adam Plutko Tyler Rogers Sergio Romo Seranthony Dominguez
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 I've received some strong offers on Honeywell but I'll need time to decide if I'm going to end up keeping him or not. A couple of the proposals are very interesting but I'm on the edge about. Get your offers in!
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 I'd love to get an upgrade at 1B if people are selling.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 Did Porcello get traded for nothing? Edit: Yeah, that happened???
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 Did Porcello get traded for nothing? Edit: Yeah, that happened??? He got traded for my Skaggs comp pick (41) that isn’t in Fantrax
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 Pick 41 (Skaggs death comp pick) to Org for Porcello That's right. Did Porcello get traded for nothing? Edit: Yeah, that happened??? Ohh...
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 He got traded for my Skaggs comp pick (41) that isn’t in Fantrax Yeah, I see that now.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 You gave up 41 for Porcello, yet hated me at a 3rd and a 5th kickback with Fiers... wow
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 You gave up 41 for Porcello, yet hated me at a 3rd and a 5th kickback with Fiers... wow You are grossly overrating Fiers.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 You are grossly overrating Fiers. Or you're grossly underrating him.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 You gave up 41 for Porcello, yet hated me at a 3rd and a 5th kickback with Fiers... wow Mike Fiers definitely sucks and Rick Porcello only probably sucks.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 29, 2019 Author Posted December 29, 2019 Mike Fiers has 8.0 RA9-WAR in the last two years compared to 3.3 for Porcello. bWAR is 6.3 to 4.3 fWAR 3.1 to 4.2 Mike Fiers might be good! f*** Steamer. I'll take, uh, neither in fantasy though.

I'll take, uh, neither in fantasy though. I think they’re both serviceable as an SP7 or 8. Both right on the keep/cut threshold because most bad teams would prefer to gamble on upside, and most good teams have better options. Fiers is probably going to give you Mike Leake numbers, with a few more walks and a lower ERA because of the favourable home park. I like Porcello a bit better.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 Fiers is 34, Porcello 31 Fiers career fWAR 10.7, Porcello 27.9 Porcello higher K/9 Porcello lower FIP 4 of last 5 years Porcello > Fiers, no question
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 Fiers is 34, Porcello 31 Fiers career fWAR 10.7, Porcello 27.9 Porcello higher K/9 Porcello lower FIP 4 of last 5 years Porcello > Fiers, no question It’s pretty easy to see both hitting the waiver wire this year. Probably > 50% probability for Fiers.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 29, 2019 Author Posted December 29, 2019 Porcello > Fiers, no question Historically, sure. Although teams don't get awarded wins based on FIP. Going forward - lots of questions.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 I'm trading Cal Quantrill to Abom along with my fourth round waiver for his first round waiver (#4 overall). Abom to confirm. I don't believe waiver picks are on Fantrax right?

Although we could probably just add a list to the Notes or Articles section.
Laika Community Moderator Posted December 29, 2019 Author Posted December 29, 2019 I was asked about removing the compensation for player deaths (etc.) provisions. Seemed like a vote situation so I started a poll in Fantrax on it.

Seemed like a vote situation so I started a poll in Fantrax on it. It is pretty insane that we've had 4 death compensations in this league already. IMO you should only be compensated for the death of a franchise-crippling star, I'm just not sure how to quantify that. Guys like Tyler Skaggs and Yordano Ventura really don't warrant it, but I guess a second round sandwich pick doesn't hurt anybody.

Why shouldn't career ending injuries warrant compensation? In both cases, the player is of no use to you. Risks and bad luck are an inherent part of fantasy sports. Should Devon Travis have returned compensation after weird injuries destroyed his career?
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 I should be awarded compensation for the future trade crippling that occurred after I traded Tavares and Yordano. I don't think I've done a deal with Boxy since... the true victim is me... yes this is dark sarcasm you swine!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Looking for any reasonable offers on any of these guys for '21 picks, prices vary obviously. Jorge Alfaro C - MIA Matt Thaiss 1B,3B - LAA Adam Frazier 2B - PIT Joey Wendle 2B,3B,SS - TB Odubel Herrera CF,OF - PHI Mike Fiers SP - OAK Matt Shoemaker SP - TOR Scott Oberg RP - COL

Should Devon Travis have returned compensation after weird injuries destroyed his career? I'm not happy with the precedents anymore and honestly wish we never started. I know it began with Oscar Taveras and Jose Fernandez, who were more catastrophic losses. Not sure why I/we felt the need to compensate for the lesser guys. It's just so much simpler going forward to not do it at all. Tough luck to the owner whether it's death, retirement, injury, or the law. The vote is 6-4 right now so it could go either way.

I voted to keep it, but that's only because I was compensated, you can swing my vote the other way if you want, just my 2 cents.
