I like Grichuk. The park change and job security are definitely fantasy upgrades. Could hit like 35 bombs with a really s***** OBP. Maybe with some improvement he could be Khris Davis.

He wasn't even that good when he was healthy and he's never healthy. Swinging strike rate is flaccid. Not impressed.

I'm kinda hoping for an OBP improvement with his offseason effort to get better at recognizing pitches.

I think its a fair deal with the same amount of risk/reward going both ways.

 

Trying to acquire a young SP with decent upside in this league is tough. I didn't want to trade Freeman, Arenado or Marte to add another SP. I hate losing Grichuk now since he's been traded to the Jays. I plucked him off waivers again at the end of last season after dropping him in August. Everybody on this board hated him and now since he's on the Jays, funny how things change.

 

But yeah in my case, I had a lot of OF depth. Nobody valued Fowler or Choo that much and I doubt many teams were going to give up anything decent for Rosario right now. I need some arms after my Big 3 and I'm willing to roll the dice on someone like Matz who has some nice upside and could maybe turn into a strong No. 2 starter if he stays healthy.

 

Grichuk has a good chance at hitting 30-35 bombs and the Khris Davis comparison is a good one. His low .OBP doesn't play well in this league's format and where he was on my depth charts, I was able to move him. If I didn't have that deep of an outfield, I probably would have been more inclined to keep him.

I agree that Grichuk's apparent value went up significantly after the trade to Toronto.

 

I wanted Matz but I wasn't really comfortable offering more than two B- prospects.

 

But it's Boxy so Matz will probably be a top 20 SP this year and Grichuk will hit .220

Doesn't look like you saw my messages Boxy, but you edit'd MiLB picks not waiver picks. I processed the trade on the waiver and roster side if you can just reverse what you changed on the MiLB pick side
