P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Guys, just FYI I'm listening to the BP dynasty list podcast and they call Victor Robles "Roe-bulls"... so... um... there's that. Yeah, they've been doing that for years. Blatant disregard for giving a f***.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Anyone remember the corpse of Tyson Ross? Looks like his younger brother is heading in the same direction before he even established himself. Geez. The guy had 212 K's in 2015 and was looking like a solid No. 2 fantasy ace and then poof!
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 It's funny how quickly these pitchers can have no value at all. Even when they eventually come back. Who finds Lance Lynn attractive right now? Cliff Lee went from elite ace to dead asset virtually overnight. James Shields went from the league's most consistent workhorse to a completely unplayable gas can. Roy Halladay, Roy Oswalt, Johan Santana, etc, etc, etc.

Especially someone like Doc who many thought could pitch well into his late 30's and dominate the NL which he did during his first two seasons. Even could throw Brandon Webb and Tim Lincecum on that list. We're starting to see it with guys like Wainwright, King Felix, Arrieta, and others. It's kind of scary when you think of it. It would suck if lets say someone like Max Scherzer or Kershaw went down in the next year or two. That's why as a fan anytime you could watch someone like Kershaw, Scherzer, Sale, King Felix (in his prime), Tim Lincecum (his good years), Doc (when he was healthy) etc., you have to appreciate that moment because you might not see that elite level of performance from them in the next 2-3 years.
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 14, 2017 Author Posted July 14, 2017 And then you have guys like Julio Urias, who maybe have their elite career washed out before it even begins. This sport is tremendously awful

Doc was due to non-baseball related issues though, so I'm not sure it's fair to lump him into that. He probably WOULD have pitched well into his late 30's otherwise.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 And Thor too... This is why I prefer to have no pitchers.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Pineda's fantasy value just got zeroed out, he's the least valuable by far. I just offered a bad reliever for him...Stupid GD turned it down
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 And Thor too... This is why I prefer to have no pitchers. Feel free to trade him to me. Does Devers whet your hwhistle?
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Ive found that the way around this heartache is to have no starters of any value. Break down, see if I give a f***.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 CarGo + Medeiros to KK, Keller to me. The end of an era, my first MLB pick! Confirmed.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 North had the right idea I think, everyone breaks down but give me the guys that have proven they can be a horse all year at least a time or two. Yep. I never trade for young pitchers, age is pretty much a non factor when it comes to longevity. Give me a Max Scherzer over a Noah Syndergaard every time.

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 I'm regrettably cutting Duplantier and Hall for the trades I made involving Cueto and Samardja.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 the waiver pick 2 (njh) appears twice on the sheet. I assume it just wasn't deleted from his picks after a trade. If someone can look into it and delete the duplicate asset we'll be back in the clear in terms of errors.

GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Can someone process the pick and waiver swap portion of my deal with JaysBlue of Luke Weaver for Osuna
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Aaron Judge has fallen out of the 1 spot for the first time in a while. Kershaw, Scherzer and Sale are now the Top 3. Always build around pitching, right?

Laika Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2017 Author Posted July 19, 2017 I think Felipe is probably the best player in that deal.

BTS Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 I think Felipe is probably the best player in that deal. Clearly the case I think. I just don't place any value on Vargas in my current position.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Vargas is getting pretty close to the drop zone. Kingery (in my mind) was mostly to upgrade the RP with Vargas really just a nominal throw in.
