Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Got 2 arms tied behind my back (Chapman, Skaggs) and still styling on fools. Yeah what a surprise. Completely didn't know you had a good team. PS Skaggs? Come on baaabeh
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Should I start Scott Kazmir in Denver this week? Probably should, right?
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Should I start Scott Kazmir in Denver this week? Probably should, right? He's been a tire fire not pitching in Colorado, which has been annoying.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 He's been a tire fire not pitching in Colorado, which has been annoying. It stretches back to like August 2015, just ask Boxy. BP Scott is back!
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/felix-hernandez-is-not-right/ "If you are a Felix owner, he has done you all a great favor by not allowing a homer, posting just a .200 BABIP, and stranding over 80% of runners. All that good fortune has masked his poor pitching so far and given you a window with which to shop him. Surely someone in your league will stop at the 1.00 ERA, think all is fine, and be willing to give up a pretty good hitter, or even a comparable pitcher. How about Corey Kluber?"

How about it, silvergun? It's a fair offer.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 I've been trying pretty hard to troll you, but everything just bounces off You can't tell me anything I don't already know about Felix. You're acting like Pollock is a zero and that's fine. In my mind I traded Alex Gordon for Felix, so I'm pretty good with the buy. You can point to Felix' control and velocity, and I will point to his SwStr% and GB%. I don't think he's vintage Felix, nor did I pay for that.

That's who a contender should want on their roster.

The trade looks like something I would do. Actually I probably would do it. Pollock is so good and it's all about core hitters. Losing Bumgarner also doesn't drop him out of the playoff picture or anything, and the h2h playoffs are entirely luck anyway. All you need to do is finish in the top 8 with a) a viable, full roster and the best possible core for next year!
TRM Verified Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 To be completely honest, an ancillary benefit of the trade was weakening Dinger for this year. I would have taken it anyway, but that was icing on the cake.

MadBum is the best player in the trade ATM. That's who a contender should want on their roster. I don't think MadBum is much better than Felix. There are a lot of red flags with him also in the early going: - FB velo down 1.6 MPH - GB rate down 9% - Elevated HR rate - BB rate more than doubled The last two points have mostly been a result of missed spots and poor control. He's been fighting his mechanics in the early going. It could be his foot problem or it could be something larger. Either way, he's been getting shelled in the early going, including all of ST.
TRM Verified Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 including all of ST. You're better than this.

I see the dropoff from Bumgarner to Felix being minimal and Gordon as replaceable. I don't think it was a major blow to my team this year.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 You're better than this. The results don't matter but the process does. He has shown diminished velo and poor control the whole time. I don't think he's broken though, actually I think both pitchers will be fine.

I think there will be a clear demarcation between Felix and Bum by season end, and Alex Gordon is the type of player that is pretty underrated in most fantasy leagues (even our OBP leagues, somewhat surprisingly).

I agree with everything you say here. Particularly the part about Gordon being overrated. If Pollock's elbow is as f***ed up as it could be I can see Gordon being = to AJ next year. 2. You're being coy about this, arguing both sides of the trade... which side of the trade to you favor?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 2. You're being coy about this, arguing both sides of the trade... which side of the trade to you favor? Why do you care so much what a non-President's Trophy, non-DDL Finalist thinks? It doesn't suit you, kowtowing to plebes like this.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Besides, he already said I won the trade.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 18, 2016 Author Posted April 18, 2016 I like the trade for both of you. I feel like which side I would take would depend on what side of the bed I woke up on. I just disagreed with Dinger saying that it doesn't make him much worse this year because I think it probably will. A) risk + delay + big payoff immediacy + 2016 push + life boating away from the SS Felix as fast as possible
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 I feel like which side I would take would depend on what side of the bed I woke up on. Yeah, I was pretty drunk when I made the offer and definitely considered it for a long time before tendering it. I thought about it a lot from Min's perspective and I felt there was a pretty good chance he would accept. Then when I woke up I strongly considered canceling it. Then when Min said he accepted it, I felt buyer's remorse. Now I've come full circle and I'm looking forward to my elite CF.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 I like the deal for Min. Pollock's not going to be the Pollock you're hoping for. You just bought yourself a Cameron Maybin type of guy.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Or if things get really bad, a Carlos Gomez. I got some good years from him. He only cost me one Jeff Samardzija.
TRM Verified Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 I got some good years from him. He only cost me one Jeff Samardzija. It must be hard for you to see him as a shell of his former self, particularly after all those good times in the playoffs you guys spent together.
