Your own fault for scorning Bryce. Rotoworld said he's "unquestionably the best hitter in the game"

I was telling you guys to pick Bryce instead of Trout, but noooooooooooo couldn't possibly break out of your rankings chains.

Some guy took Kersahw ahead of me too :P

Yahoo's banner ads are some borderline-infuriating s*** this year.

I take it you're too enraged to respond to my PM :P

Team Bryce with a commanding lead.

Well that's.... weird. Seems like the worst possible time to buy Felix. Velo down like 2 full ticks - so much that a lot of has fastballs are getting classified as changeups now (the gap between them was tiny to begin with).

So end of the day, Appel for Pollock mind end up being perfectly fair.

oh man, I can't even tell you guys how awesome this is. Obviously I don't like players getting hurt, especially exciting ones like Pollock, but just the thought of Min's s*** eating grin while he posts continuous burns all year and then imagining his priceless look when he discovered the news...I am not a big enough man to say I am not enjoying it.

Not Min's problem anymore.

Madbum's velo is also down quite a bit. I see them as fairly equal, this was more about Pollock for me.

Yup. I considered it quite a bit, but to me MadBum is four years younger, and his issues *seem* to be more injury related (foot) rather than wear and tear related, so I decided the risk was worth it.

I like this a lot for TRM. Felix sitting 90 makes him completely ineffective with that fast changeup as his out pitch.

I'm sure he'll be fine, but as much as Felix has a lot of IP for his age, the same is true of Madbum. I'm pretty optimistic on Pollock being fine next year and Ellsbury isn't someone I can really rely on at CF these days.

Dinger suddenly looks vulnerable for the first time since season 1. An offense that boils down to old guys Bautista/Cabrera/Cano + questions and a pitching staff that's no longer fronted by the two-headed monster of Bum and Sale.

Pollock is a core offensive piece, he was drafted ahead of MadBum in BORED. That was the point of the trade for me, getting a core bat who isn't 33+ already.

He should help next year, but not likely much of a factor this season.

Not really. It's not like there's a huge gap between Bumgarner and Felix. I wouldn't be surprised to see Felix pitch at 89mph and be an SP2 for the next five years.

Pollock is possibly elite and Gordon is just a guy.

I love MadBum and he's been great for me, but I think it's safe to say we've seen his ceiling. His consistency is his most attractive quality but now there is cause for concern there. Both pitchers seem likely to degrade soon due to extreme workloads.

Bumgarner isn't even 27 and his velocity dip isn't as severe as Felix's.

Bum is down 1.6 on average and 2.5 off of his top end from 2015. But if you look at his trends, his velocity isn't much different than his early season velo in years past. I think he'll simply heat up.

Felix on the other hand is demonstrating a stark drop. 2.2 off the average and three full clicks off of his top end from last year. The trend is gross too because it's sudden and unprecedented. He's sat 91/92 and been able to touch ~95 for basically the last four years consistently, now he's barely humping it up to 91, all of a sudden.

So the degree of concern for me is much, much higher with Felix. But like I said, he's just so damn good and the pitchability is so high that I think he'll be relatively fine. SP2 fine. Unless his elbow pops or something, which is entirely possible.

Isn't loss of command usually a sign (along with velo) that something is wrong physically? Felix isn't throwing the ball where he wants to at all right now. He has to be one of the biggest TJS risks in the league.

In a world where Roy Halladay, Johan Santana, and Cliff Lee became useless overnight, it wouldn't surprise me if either pitcher blows out their elbow.

I guess I should sell all the shares I own in King Felix.

Velo aside, Felix is getting Ks and GBs at a very good rate. Until his ERA blows up, I'm not going to worry too much.

Prudent only if you can swap him for another elite player

Well the latent career TJS risk is like ~30% in the population. It's basically duck duck goose, and other things like workload and mechanics move the needle a little bit.

For reference, there's one study that looked at a form of bad mechanics (early trunk rotation - just think of it as the arm being late) and found a significant impact but the % of TJS was 33% in the bad cohort and 23% in the clean cohort.

Point is that everybody who hucks baseballs is at risk. The biggest risk factor is simply being a pitcher.

I like the trade on your end since I don't think there is a huge difference between Bumgarner and Felix other than age, since both have a lot of innings on their arms. Pollock if he returns to an elite level is definitely a huge upgrade over Gordon who to be honest is maybe a 3OF at best now in fantasy.

Could add Roy Oswalt to that list as well. When watching Doc, Santana, Lee and Oswalt in their prime, never thought I'd see them all out of the game in their early-to-mid 30's.
