The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Sure. I won't be licensed to practice in the ghettos of Fredericton though, or wherever the hell it is that you sleep on someone's couch. You can still practice here without a license then. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone. And my couch is in Halifax, not Fredericton.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Boxy used the #1 waiver on Tyler White? wojwejbh You dumbass, I finished SECOND last. Remember?
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 I thought Jesse Hahn was supposed to be the A's #2? They just optioned him to the minors.

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Anyone wanna trade for him? He'd be an awesome guy to stash in your NA slot! He's got velocity. And he has an Adam Wainwright curveball. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/oakland-has-its-own-adam-wainwright-curveball/
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 I thought Jesse Hahn was supposed to be the A's #2? They just optioned him to the minors. He's no match for Felix Doubront!
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Anyone wanna trade for him? He'd be an awesome guy to stash in your NA slot! Oakland thinks he's worse than Felix Doubront bruh
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Oakland thinks he's worse than Felix Doubront bruh Oakland also traded Donaldson for Lawrie. Like who would ever trade Donaldson?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Oakland also traded Donaldson for Lawrie. Like who would ever trade Donaldson? An egomaniac whom Donaldson insulted, if you believe the rumours.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 An egomaniac whom Donaldson insulted, if you believe the rumours. Are you talking about Billy Beane or Silvergun?

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 He barely threw his slider. That whole narrative is dumn. Or PitchFX confused some of his curves and sliders. He threw it enough that he believed it was causing him arm troubles, so that's considerable.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 The case against Jose Reyes has been dropped! yes. Hopefully he only gets 30-60 days, or something like that.

IMO his suspension should be shorter than Chapman's, in this case. Both charges were dropped, but Reyes didn't involve a firearm.

HONOLULU (AP) -- Maui prosecutors are moving to dismiss a domestic abuse charge against suspended Colorado Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes because his wife isn't cooperating. Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Kerry Glen said she expects to file documents Wednesday to drop the case. Reyes' wife won't talk to prosecutors or return to Maui, she said. "The complaining witness, Mr. Reyes' wife, is what we call an uncooperative witness," Glen said. "At this point, I have no other avenue for prosecution." Reyes was scheduled to go to trial April 4. He pleaded not guilty to abusing a family or household member. David Sereno, his Maui defense attorney, couldn't immediately be reached for comment. The former New York Mets shortstop was arrested Oct. 31 at the Wailea Four Seasons Resort. According to a recording of a 911 call released by police, a hotel security guard reported the woman had injuries to her leg and scratches on her neck. Reyes was released after posting $1,000 bail and was ordered to stay away from his wife for three days. Reyes' wife rebuffed requests for cooperation through a Maui attorney she hired, Glen said. Glen will ask for the case to be dropped without prejudice, meaning she'll have about two years from the date of the alleged offense to refile charges if Reyes' wife eventually cooperates. "For misdemeanor offenses, we cannot force an uncooperative witness to come back," Glen said. Reyes was placed on paid leave under Major League Baseball's new domestic violence policy pending completion of the criminal proceedings. The MLB and the players' association agreed to the policy in August following a series of high-profile domestic violence cases involving NFL players. Reyes was the first player affected by it. The MLB declined to comment on prosecutors' intent to drop the charge against him. ------ AP Baseball Writer Ronald Blum contributed to this report.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Actually sad that she won't cooperate. Probably doing it for their kids. Wouldn't be surprised if a lot more happens behind closed doors.
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 Actually sad that she won't cooperate. Probably doing it for their kids. Wouldn't be surprised if a lot more happens behind closed doors. Yeah, the power imbalance between Reyes and his wife is massive.

MLB will review the reports/statements of witnesses etc at the time and assume there are other reasons she won't cooperate as alluded too. I don't think the dropped charges will factor that much.

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Well this sucks as a Story owner. Sucks as a human being too that once again a rich person gets away with a crime because he's rich.

It's not like every DV accusation is some absolutely true and harrowing act of physical violence against a woman. Edited March 30, 2016 by Laika

It's not like every DV accusation is some absolutely true and harrowing act of physical violence against a woman. I have no issue acknowledging that is a possibility, but given what we have heard I find it unlikely. That and the quote was more a commentary of accountability of rich people at large than a final judgment on this specific case.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Things I didn't expect to be excited about 4 weeks ago: Juan Nicasio cracking the starting rotation. Oh Spring <3 Literally no one cares
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 I agree... how dare someone talk about fantasy baseball, this league specifically, in this thread!!!

You're right that it shouldn't be determinative though. hmmm....Don't you think MLB is going to smell this sudden lack of cooperation from the Dom Rep? If they don't come down hard any ball player who makes mega millions can buy and/or intimidate their way out of any charge/potential conviction, if that's a major discipline threshold. Admittedly, in this case we don't know why she is doing it. Could be protecting the kids or he bought her a 5 carat diamond to make up. I think the facts at the time of the charge will carry the most weight with them for these reasons. If they are in his favour he will be ok. MLB is going to be paranoid about the imbalance of stroke with Jose and his wife in this situation.
