Boxy will no longer be a bye week, unless he chooses to neglect 2016 and fill his roster with s***** kids and prospective penny stock players.

I was thinking that. Park, Correa, Puig, Moustakas, Matz, and Berrios is the foundation of a pretty decent team.

I'm glad I caught featherd twice rather than sil, even though ftd has basically ruined my ddl experience singlehandedly

KingKat the new Bye Week? Does he have a chance to beat Boxy's 2014 season? So many interesting questions.

Your last kick at the can in this window? How many of Haren, Dickey, Wilson, Colon and Peavy survive 2016 cuts?

Remember when you said last year was my last kick at the can? I remember.

Now you're saying I'm the second best of the never missed the playoffs club.

This is what you get for doubting me.

KingKat had the worst team last year, and I think he has the worst by a large margin this year. Definitely bad enough to challenge boxy's 2014 season.

Appel for Pollock has greatly improved the long-term fortunes of A 2nd Leg to Stanton.

Here are my extremely scientific and completely un-proofread Power Rankings, so go f*** yourself.

Rank

Team Name

BAT

PIT

FARM

1

London Slayers

A

A+

D

This is an elite offence driven by EE, Lucroy, Altuve, Coredick, Cargo, and Werth, with no glaring holes. Kluber/Darvish/Hamels is as good as any top 3 in the league, and there's plenty of depth behind them. The bullpen isn't elite, but Kenley makes for a strong anchor. On the farm, there's no high end talent or high picks to trade for reinforcements or call up, so SG will have to hope he has enough talent to win as-is.

2

BALCO Pharm Team

A+

B+

D+

The best offence in this PR, powered by Cutch, Rizzo, and Beltre and supplemented with plenty of other contributors. I like Price as an ace, but you can't expect him to repeat what he did last year, and Carrasco is a gamble as an SP2. Nice depth SP3-6, and a decent enough BP. Like LS, the farm is pretty tapped out, so North will have to draft well and be creative if he wants to buy talent.

3

Twist and Trout

A-

A-

D

It's hard to knock the only team to make both finals, but it's fair to say this offence relies heavily on Trout. If he goes down, it's a catastrophe. The starting pitching is elite, headlined by Kershaw, Zimm, Gio, with some nice depth innings behind them. The BP is wanting and the farm is barren.

4

The WAR Puigs

B+

A

B+

The core of Puig, Gomez, and Rendon has tremendous upside, but there are a lot of risky profiles in the offence. Felix/Stras is the best 1-2 in the league, and Kuma leads an excellent supplemental rotation that includes Teheran, Bailey, Hahn, and Liriano. The BP should be above average, and having an SP-eligible closer in Mejia is a nice boon. Catsass also has a couple tricks up his sleeve with Syndergaard and Glasnow, who lead an above average farm.

5

Butt Stallions

B+

B+

B+

This offence has a lot of potential if Votto, Wright, and Crush return to form. There are contributors throughout the lineup and no obvious weak links. Scherzer is a slam dunk ace, but Arrieta scares me as an SP2, and there are warts on the depth SPs. Holland leads an at least average BP. There are chips to play on the farm without sacrificing his jewel, Urias.

6

True Cardinals

B

A

C+

Only one offensive superstar in Abreu, but that foundational bat is crucial to build around. Plenty of bounceback candidates mean this offence should be playoff-worthy. Waino-Lester lead a rotation with adequate depth, bolstered by an elite BP. Not much on the farm unless you love Clint Frazier; no high picks.

7

2nd Leg to Stanton

A-

B

B-

A fantastic lineup orbiting Stanton, including big contributors Donaldson, Jones and Holliday. Cueto & Shark should be an adequate 1-2, and there's some depth (if old). Kimbrel helps quite a bit, naturally. If Stanton stays healthy, this team can win a championship; if not, it's a fringe playoff team. Has some nice chips (Anderson, Appel) on the farm if he wants to push in for this window, but no elite prospects to plan a future around.

8

Triple Hawpe Brewed

A-

B

F

Posey, Freeman, Tulo, Brantley, and Arenado make for a fantastic core that doesn't rely on any geezers. Cruz, Castro and Napoli should contribute as well. I like Greinke better as an elite SP2 than an ace, and I'm expecting regression from Hughes. Rotation depth is adequate but the bullpen is a shitshow, and the farm is scorched earth.

9

ISO Horny

B

B

B

I love Goldy as a building block, and there are other contributors as well (Zimmerman, Adams, Kip, Gomes). I don't feel this offense is quite there yet, however. There is plenty of youth and upside in the rotation, but no reliable aces yet. The BP is below average. Joc Pederson headlines a fairly average farm.

10

(insert clever name)

B-

B-

A

Core bats include Seager, Polanco, and Myers, so this team is banking on upside if they want to compete in the near future. Tanaka is an ace if he's healthy, but any short-term success for this team will hinge on it, and the SP depth is a bit lacking. Andrew Miller and K Rod lead a serviceable, average pen. Giolito and Addison Russell headline a very strong farm that includes two Top 5 picks in the upcoming draft, so there's a future here.

11

Taijuan On!

B

B-

B+

This lineup is led by Vmart, Frazier, Moss, Melky, Dozier, and Molina, so depth is the name of the game. Could squeeze into the playoffs if things break right, but will need to add some high end rotation talent to accompany Cobb et al. The BP is a dog's breakfast. A breakout from Taijuan Walker would certainly help, and the farm boasts Jon Gray and Schwarber, giving Spanky some options.

12

The Bryce Is Right

B-

C+

A

This offence hinges on Harper and Upton being studly, as it's lacking in depth and has a few sinkholes. Cashner and Roark are nice pieces, but are better off as SP3s, and are unlikely to carry this rotation to the promised land. The BP doesn't boast any closers or elite set up guys. The good news is the farm is f***ing stacked (Gallo, Sano, Stephenson, Judge, etc.)

13

B. Inge Drinking

B

B

C

Longo, Springer, Mesoraco, and Santana could power an above average offense, but holes at 2B, SS, OF, and DH will drag down the line. Fernandez and Wood could be a great 1-2, but the rotation is otherwise lacklustre. Cody Allen is a nice BP piece, but it's average on the whole. That's too many buts. Hurl's farm is surprisingly crappy, with no obvious elite talents or lottery picks.

14

Burrito Boys

C+

B-

A+

No cornerstone hitters, but solid youth in Heyward, Yelich, Norris, Martinez, and Wong. Cole and Richards are nice young arms who this team will lean on as aces going forward. This is my favourite farm, as it boasts Buxton, Seager, and, in all likelihood, Yoan Moncada (with the #1 pick). Could be a perennial contender in 2-3 years.

15

Lyon Tamer

C

B-

B

The offence is old and lacks a superstar hitter. Pablo Sandoval is likely the best bat here, so a teardown is probably in order. I like the troika of Gray-Stroman-Wacha going forward, and the farm has some nice pieces (more depth than high end talent, though).

16

Gryffindor

B-

C

C+

The bats are led by Cespedes, Reyes, and Morneau, which is probably inadequate. The future is brighter however, with Bryant, Hamilton, and Odor in the plan. There are some pieces in the rotation (Quintana, Pineda, CarMart), but not enough to push for a playoff spot just yet. I don't love the farm, but Swihart might be an impact talent.

17

Georgia Peach

C+

D-

B

There's upside here with Marte, Soler, Machado, Baez, Tomas, and Profar, but it really doesn't seem close to competitive at the moment. The pitching is quite likely the worst in the league, headlined by Shelby Miller, and lacking any long-term impact RPs. The farm has some nice pieces, my favourite of whom is Mazara, and plenty of picks.

18

Bye Week

F

C+

A

When your best hitter is either Chase Utley or A.J. Pollock, you're in for a long season. At least he has a young ace in Harvey to build around, and some strong MiLB assets anchored by Correa.

19

Kitten Mittens

D

D

A-

I'm not seeing any core bats to build around, so it's a long road back to relevance. The pitching also lacks depth and high end talent, with the exception of Chapman. There are some nice prospects, headlined by Betts and Norris.
Last year

Posted
1.Los Osos Blancos

Strengths: Everything. This team is elite everywhere and is a huge favourite to finish first overall again.

Questions: Will the baseball gods take a s*** on Dinger's chest in the playoffs again this year?

2. London Slayers

Strengths: The best 1-3 in the league in Kluber-Darvish-Hamels, and a very deep lineup anchored by Edwin and Lucroy.

Questions: Will Melky in Coors stay healthy and provide SG with another elite bat? (I f***ing hope not). Does Aramis Ramirez have anything left in his last season?

3. BALCO Pharm Team

Strengths: Elite offense with reliable impact bats lined up 1-9. Deep rotation fronted by Price and Carrasco, with solid innings-eaters rounding out the top-6.

Questions: Can Carlos Carrasco repeat his 2014 and give North a second ace?

4. The WAR Puigs

Strengths: A top-3 rotation anchored by Felix, Strasburg, and Iwakuma that's six deep. Elite young core in Puig/Gomez/Rendon.

Questions: Will catsass once again be to drunk to manage this excellent team to the playoffs? (I f***ing hope so)

5. The Butt Stallions

Strengths: Depth: The lineup and pitching staff are loaded with potential impact talent.

Questions: How will the large number of boom-or-bust players pan out? Castillo, Pearce, Davis, Souza, Arrieta, and Salazar are all capable of highly productive seasons, but all have significant questions.

6. Twist and Trout

Strengths: The best hitter and pitcher in the game, and a deep pitching staff that is filled with reliable quality inning eaters behind Kershaw.

Questions: Is the lineup good enough behind Trout? Every other hitter on the team has significant warts, and if Trout goes down or struggles a bit things could get ugly.

7. 2nd Leg to Stanton

Strengths: A deep lineup anchored by Stanton, with impact bats like Donaldson, Jones, and Holliday in support.

Questions: Is the pitching deep enough? Samardzija and Cueto are studs, but the collection of geezers that follow are not inspiring. That said, those geezers eat innings, and all accept Wilson are still pitching at a high level.

8. Triple Hawpe Brewed!

Strengths: One of the best young offensive cores in the league featuring Freeman, Posey, Tulo, Brantley, and Arenado.

Questions: How good is the pitching staff after Greinke? Ross, Hughes, Minor, and Peralta all have things going for them, but there are reasons to doubt all of them. How well will jaysblue be able to cope with injury/attrition? There are no picks and nothing at all on the farm.

9. ISO Horny

Strengths: A lineup anchored by Goldsmidt and a bunch of other solid contributors that should be a top-10 group.

Questions: A high-risk pitching staff that could vault torontofan into the playoffs if things break right. Guys like Latos, Wheeler, Medlen, Hutchison, Smyly, Gausman, and Anderson have huge ability, but also huge question marks. A couple reliable front-end starters would go a long way.

10. Taijuan On!

Strengths: A very deep lineup without holes that will do damage.

Questions: Will Spanky acquire help for a pitching staff that offers little hope beyond Cobb, Holland, and Archer? This is a team in need of an ace.

11. B. Inge Drinking

Strengths: Mesoraco, Santana, Longoria, Springer, and Ozuna are one of the better young offensive cores in the league.

Questions: With Fernandez out until the break, can Hurl piece together a pitching staff good enough to support the solid offense?

12. The Bryce Is Right

Strengths: A solid lineup anchored by impact bats like Upton and Harper. Power up and down the lineup with no real holes.

Questions: Does speedygose know that this league counts pitching cats?

13. (insert clever name)

Strengths: Huge upside at multiple spots. d'Arnaud, Kang, Polanco, Myers, Singleton, and Guerrerro are all capable of becoming top-100 offensive players, and Tanaka, Bundy, Johnson, and Ventura all have SP1 upside. This team has darkhorse playoff potential of a lot of things break right.

Questions: See: strengths. How many things break right?

14. Burrito Boyz

Strengths: A young rotation featuring Richards, Cole, Bauer, and Corbin. Top young OFs Heyward and Yelich.

Questions: Heyward and Yelich are both capable of huge things offensively, but will they break out? If so, havok has a couple of building blocks around which to construct his offense.

15. The Lyon Tamers

Strengths: An enviable top-3 in the rotation with Gray, Stroman, and Wacha.

Questions: Will Sammy decide to tear the offense down? It's a veteran group that's reliable enough to compete in a lot of weeks, but isn't likely going tolead to a playoff berth.

16. Gryffindor

Strengths: An offense without any real holes, though one that lacks impact talent.

Questions: Can Nova, Pineda, Martinez, and Garza stay healthy? If so, this team likely improves significantly from last year.

17. Georgia Peach:

Strengths: A very good young core of Marte, Soler, Arcia, Tomas, and Semien.

Questions: When will Gibbers decide to supplement the youngest team in the league with enough reliable talent to make the playoffs more than a pipe dream?

18. Bye Week

Strengths: Harvey and Ryu are a fine 1-2 punch for any team, and there are several intriguing starters behind them.

Questions: Will the offense win a single week?

19. KingKat

Strengths: Umm... Aroldis Chapman is really good.

Questions: Is Boxy's single-season loss record in jeopardy?

Sooo many injuries. Injuries to Stras, Iwakuma, Rendon, Gomez, Puig. Even Felix took a step back, I think he might be getting worn out, so many innings.

I've always found you really annoying to play against, but I just checked and I'm 37-18 against you all-time. Not sure why I thought you had my number.

Possibly the times he beat you were closer to the beginning of the season or right at the end while you fought for a playoff spot.

I'm hoping to finish in the top half this year. Probably a big stretch but I'm aiming high bros

Aim for the playoffs! It would help tremendously if Tex got injured and Bird gets the call...

It's insane that Felix still won't be 30 until April but he already has 2262 career innings. On one hand, you need pristine mechanics and genetics to even do that. On the other hand, that's a lot of wear and tear.

His top comps through 29 on Baseball Ref give some interesting (split) anecdotes.

Didn't hold up after 29/30:

Milt Pappas

Dwight Gooden

Larry Dierker

Vida Blue

Fernando Valenzuela

Dave McNally

Pitched a lot after 29/30:

Don Sutton

Greg Maddux

Fergie Jenkins

Steve Carlton
