I had a dream where Cano got Safeco'd to death and Chris Davis bounced back to a 40 HR player.... Oh wait! That's real life!

In that dream, did you also surpass me in the PRs for the first time in 3 years?

Cano last 30 days: 6 HR, .359/.553. Meanwhile Pujols and Ortiz have been just as good as Davis, so I don't regret that trade, even now. I sold high, and the principle was sound.

My pitching isn't really that great after Sale and Bumgarner, TBH.

Sale + Bum + excellent pen is still elite.

Posted

Danny Valencia is available for a 4th round pick. Any takers?

Also, for a rebuilding team looking to make a spec closer play, Tommy Kahnle is available. Axford has been demoted from the closer's role and Kahnle (25 y, 10.9 K/9, 56% GB, 13.7% SwStr, 94.3 MPH FB) looks to be the heir. He can be had for a crusty old veteran SP rotation filler.

Kazmir has been nails too, I guess. I probably called up Rodon too soon, which had a trickle down effect on some other roster decisions like trading Anibal and Wei-Yin. He's been nuking my OBPA pretty frequently.

Posted
I'm also open to seeing what a package of something like Rodon + Swihart + Billy Hamilton or Kopech could get me. Preferably an ace like Felix Hernandez.

The bar for middling playoff staff should be mine.

Similarly, the bar for average playoff team lineup should also be mine.

I'm the definition of middle of the road playoff team this year.

Posted
I wouldn't say elite; it's clearly inferior to the staffs of Silvergun and NJH. One workhorse and only four every-time-out guys. I'd lump Dinger in with the rest of the playoff staffs.

I'm curious, are you excluding Jaime or Karns from that group?

Posted
Karns. He's good but probably over-performing and takes a hit with K/BB being a stat.

I'm not really sure what to make of him. He was dominating last night and hitting 96 MPH with good off-speed stuff, then he got pulled after 79 pitches because of two consecutive hits. I don't get TB sometimes. I'm positive he will be a keeper for me, however.

Posted
Min, can you trade me one of your gross vets for a good reliever? It makes sense for both of us.

I need a clozer. PM me though we can chat.

wow. I thought your reign of PR terror would last longer.

I don't really understand how your roster is 4th though. Seems to good to not be elite. I guess the top 4 ZTOTALs are all pretty close.

How is old man Aramis swinging it?

One of the hits was a dinger. Saber wisdom says that unless your starter is a well above average guy, you're probably better off letting a middle reliever face the order the 3rd time through. TB seems to be adhering to this when guys like Erasmo and Karns start. If Kevin Cash was dogmatic, he would have yanked Karns before he had a chance to give up that homer to Abreu.

I'd be surprised to see you get that return. Hamilton suxxx, Swihart probably suxxx, and Rodon is awesome, but not an ace yet. I think you'd be looking at an SP2 type.

As you can see, the “times through the order” penalty is a significant effect that should be incorporated into a manager’s decision about when to remove a starting pitcher. In fact, it would behoove managers and pitching coaches to be much more mindful of a starter’s “times through the order” than his pitch count. In an article I wrote two years ago about the benefit of “quick hooks,” I showed that a typical NL team could add from a half to a full win per season simply by removing a starting pitcher who is not an ace whenever he comes to bat in a high-leverage situation after pitching at least five innings, even if his replacement is a league-average reliever. Even in AL parks, where pitchers don’t bat, managers should be inclined to replace a pitcher, especially a fourth or fifth starter, as soon as he faces the order for the third time. These mediocre or worse starters are likely at or near replacement level by this time, even if they have been pitching well.

All of them might suck. Kopech is okay but suspended and not that valuable given farm limits, and Rodon is meh in a K/BB league. Dinger is correct to try to move them before their value slides further. A post-prime #3 MLB starter would be an appropriate target.

So, Ian Kennedy or Matt Shoemaker? Let's do it Dinger. You can keep Hamilton though.

Tampa's rolling with the three times through rule, mate.

Chris Davis' 3B eligibility has been key for me this year... just sayin

Anyway, I love the trade for therealmin, I might even say he's a clear winner.

Holliday and Kuroda are fantastic players, and Holliday has a few years left in him. Correa's nice, but he's not a generational talent and the #16 pick could easily bust out.

Min won the Prime Minister's Trophy in 2013 and nobody can take that away from him. It was worth it.

Thanks buddy, you're all right you know.

Also, North. Are you in KW this summer? We should grab a beer and watch a game sometime soon, I'm pretty sure you live in my area. Hurl can come too.

Correa is ridiculous, though.

Yeah obviously I lost the trade longterm but I legitimately was the title favourite thay year so it is what it is.

Yep, can't regret the trades you lost, it doesn't serve any purpose. If my rationale at the time was sound, I can live with any outcome.
