Mike Bolsinger and Brett Anderson are actually having better DIPS seasons than Cueto (both are at 88 xFIP-, Cueto at 90).

Someone who know more about it than me, what kind of sample size do you need to determine if someone outperforming their DIPs is legit? Cueto has been 5 years running by a decent margin.

Meh, if I'm the Reds, I'd probably take De Leon + maybe Frias for a few months of Cueto. I doubt they'll get a Top 20 prospect or anything like that for him based on the teams that are in on pitching.

They really don't need Cueto at all, their top 4 is outstanding. If Greinke leaves as a FA, they can throw a s*** ton around to re-sign him, or go after Price or Cueto in FA.

Indeed. Something that would be interesting to look into.

It's a solid theory for sure but the flip side is that there's so much uncertainty with prospects that teams are probably wrong as often as they are right about which prospects to trade. To use an example you're quite familiar with, the Phillies looked really smart to trade Carrasco when his prospect value was high and then Carrasco stepped up big time in the majors and the Phillies really didn't look smart at all anymore.

Pretty easy to test. "Top 100" prospects get traded all the time - just look at expected WAR vs top 100 position for all prospects and traded prospects (or traded vs. not traded).

I'm with North. I bet the traded prospects underperform a bit, on average. It's not always the case but lots of the time when a team trades someone, it's because they aren't in love with them as much as the field is.

Are you calling him up?

I don't think so. I kind of really want to, though. I've never called a prospect I drafted up. Plus my rotation could use the help.

But then again, he's gonna get sent down again, and stuff.

Ok, just not sure why else you would mention that he was "back", North.

Well now I kind of have to call him, to avoid getting the North moniker.

Yes, that's the plan. Neuter your assets by dropping them into NA purgatory, please.

You're not really supposed to. It's post modern, like that girl who carried a mattress around campus to bring awareness to her bed wetting problem or whatever.

OK, I laughed out loud...

Ugh, Joe Ross could be legitimately good. I'm annoyed. Hopefully he gets rocked in a start, sent back down to AAA, and you did nothing but burn a 20 man spot next year.

1. Joe Ross is legitimately good.

2. I didn't actually call him up, dumny.

3. Since the prospect of Joe Ross scares Dinger, I'm curious if there is a call-up "deadline". For example, would I be able to call a prospect - let's call him Joe Ross - if he was starting on a Sunday in the playoffs and I was tied in wins, or something to that effect?

Of course you could. Why would such a restriction exist?

Dunno, just wanted to be sure. You have to set your "playoff roster" IRL, so wanted to know if there was some sort of playoff roster here or something.

I dunno, I'm dumn

Lots of interest in my relievers and Kendrick. Not so much in my outfielders. Anyone willing to offer a SP for Choo or trumbo?

Any interest in having a draft history on the google doc? I've got the info if someone wants to add it

I'd maybe move Tommy Milone for one of those OFers.
