Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 I'd wait for our Darrell Overlord to give his blessing. We don't even have a real start time other than "some time tomorrow." What a plug
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Woah sammy let all those high picks dissolve? Sheeeeit, he was on the forum during the game and draft thread last night? I got scared thinking I missed the deadline and accepted JF's offer, atleast I received something.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Pretty crazy letting the #14 overall disappear.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Pretty crazy letting the #14 overall disappear. Well we weren't always quite so draconian about killing picks. We used to let them disolve as they came up which seemed a lot more reasonable.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 I'm the only guy in the draft who doesn't move up a spot with the #14 disappearing. Edit...Spanky doesn't benefit either. This opens up my argument again. While I was really s***** at picking up players in the waiver draft, I still contend that those picks are more useful than 2nd rounders in the MiLB draft.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Well we weren't always quite so draconian about killing picks. We used to let them disolve as they came up which seemed a lot more reasonable. I don't remember this.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 I don't remember this. I don't think we ever killed picks pre-draft before. I'm pretty sure whenever it came up, people argued against it. It does seem needlessly anal.
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 The only draft-eligible player I've heard of is Yoan Moncada. This should go well.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 KingKat...have you accepted the deal? Stanek for 26?
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Pretty crazy letting the #14 overall disappear. Holy s*** I can't believe the 14,27,33,47 all vanished. I would have given a good player/prospect for that whole package.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 KingKat...have you accepted the deal? Stanek for 26? Yes I thought I made that clear but if not consider this my confirmation.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 The only draft-eligible player I've heard of is Yoan Moncada. This should go well. I have one pitcher super high on my list (I'd have him at #3 overall) after that it's all current draftees.

It does seem needlessly anal. AKAIK, we have always killed picks before the draft. I don't really see how it's anal, you have like 2 months to get your s*** together. If you choose not to, that's no one else's problem. I would see dealing with picks as they come to be a huge pain in the ass, like they were in LOD and are in BBDL, where guys are holding out for deals on their picks and making room as the draft progresses.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 I have one pitcher super high on my list (I'd have him at #3 overall) after that it's all current draftees. He will be going #3 overall in fact. I assume I'm thinking the same guy. Only reason I traded Bundy for #3 and #12.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 AKAIK, we have always killed picks before the draft. No we don't but NJH always tries to pull that s*** every year. This is the only time we've let him.

Two years ago I was still dealing my picks mid way through the draft
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Its how its written in the rules. Its really not that hard to get your ducks in a row by a specific time. Its probably better than the deadline being "whenever you come up in the draft"

Its probably better than the deadline being "whenever you come up in the draft" Well the rules are the rules. I now that leniency has been successfully pleaded for in the past. But if NJH wants to be a hard ass about the letter of the law, that's his perogative. I really don't see the appeal of being a hard ass but whatever floats one's boat.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 No we don't but NJH always tries to pull that s*** every year. This is the only time we've let him. Greenwood would approve. No draft pick dealing for anyone
BTS Community Moderator Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 I'm close to pulling the plug on that disgusting tub Billy Butler. Anyone want him?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 I have one pitcher super high on my list (I'd have him at #3 overall) after that it's all current draftees. Gross. I'm liking the guys at the top of this draft, hoping to get as many as I can. Taking pitching so high is dumn
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Pretty crazy letting the #14 overall disappear. Sammy has informed me of 1 cut and 1 promotion at least. He's on proboards if you want to msg him there. Bed time for me now. Seems like Sammy did make some cuts and stuff... It just hasn't been posted. E: Dilson Herrera was the promotion.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Gross. I'm liking the guys at the top of this draft, hoping to get as many as I can. Taking pitching so high is dumn I don't like the bats at the top enough to lose out on a guy as advanced as De Leon (no use being secretive). I'm thinking the above might just be to try and decoy me to take 2 bats and try and get De Leon at 5. Tell me after if that was the case or not
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 So is there still activity on ProBoards? Are we still posting picks there? Once we switched to Google Docs and made that the official list, I stopped using it. I actually would prefer to go there for the roster but since I can't, it's pretty much dead to me now.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Yes It it just for the purposes of having a cleaner thread? I don't really see what other point it serves now.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 It it just for the purposes of having a cleaner thread? I don't really see what other point it serves now. That was to zeroes asking if I was trying to trick him.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 It it just for the purposes of having a cleaner thread? I don't really see what other point it serves now. Recording picks in this massive, hard to search thread is a terrible idea. Hence we will record them on proboards.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Agreed. It's easier to find and search, so I can readily point out how poorly Boxy has drafted in the future.
