Yahoo treats Steve Pearce like a slap hitting SS now.

This season, the light-hitting Pearce is batting .195/.276/.325 with three homers and 10 RBI.

While he does have a little sneaky pop in his bat, it's not enough to overcome a .198/.275/.341 batting line. Continue to disregard him for fantasy purposes.

.404 wOBA last year = "a little sneaky pop"

I honestly hate whoever writes those little blurbs. 100% of the time they are completely useless, like

"Corey Kluber struck out 15 across 8 innings. It was a spectacular performance." <- no s***

"Steve Pearce has a low BATING AVRIGE. Disregard him for fantasy purposes." <- poor and potentially harmful "advice" based on a very small sample. Not even to mention he gained 2B and could potentially become a top player at the position.

I remember when Bryce had an OBP over .400 and Yahoo's blurb cites it as a "disappointing" line. 2 days later (and after a homer or two) of course the slugging goes up and then he'd been having a phenomenal year. If they aren't going to add anything aside from the plainly obvious current category stats and not bother examining underlying luck factors, what's the point of writing anything at all?

lol I remember that specific note on Harper. It was something like, "Harper went 0-2 on Sunday and is now hitting a disappointing .260/.420/.500." I wish there was a way to find it again.

Tue, May 5

Bryce Harper was held hitless with two strikeouts in four at-bats as the Nationals suffered a loss to the Marlins on Tuesday.

Advice: After finishing the month of April strong, Harper has slumped in five May games, recording just one hit (a single) in 21 plate appearances. Though he has been drawing plenty of walks all season, his triple-slash line is otherwise disappointing at .245/.405/.457.

Today:

Fri, May 8

Bryce Harper hit two home runs and finished with five RBI in Friday's 9-2 win over the Braves.

Advice: Do you hear that rumble? Are you hunkering behind a barricade right now? That sound is the sound of Bryce Harper unleashing torrents of fire. His two-homer, five-RBI game on Friday wasn't even his best game this week, as just two days ago he hit three home runs in a contest with the Marlins. Yikes. Against the Braves, Harper hit a two-run bomb off of Eric Stults in the sixth inning, then followed it up with a three-run shot off William Perez in the eighth. In his last two games, Harper is 6-for-8 with five home runs, 10 RBI and five runs scored. That's a decent month for most players. The 22-year-old Harper's now hitting .284/.426/.627 with 10 home runs, 25 RBI and 23 runs scored. Best of luck to any pitcher who happens to play in the NL East.

The hell is the point of these stupid things if they are so reactionary?

I guess an .862 OPS is relatively disappointing from Bryce Harper...

Fister waited out a long rain delay, took the mound and then wished he hadn't. He was off from the very beginning, coughing up a three-run shot to Derek Norris in the first and then barely escaping the second frame after surrendering an additional four runs. Fister came into the evening with a 2.87 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. We aren't concerned about him, though a tough matchup with the Yankees is on deck.

This comment even though his 2015 season has red flags everywhere. A few hours later he was DL'd with forearm tightness.

Yahoo actually gets all of their notes and quotes from Rotoworld, btw. I guess we should more correctly make fun of rotoworld.

What is Joc Pederson? Career line thru his first 200 ABs is now a very weird .218/.379/.455.

The K rate is concerning but the 19.5% BB rate is f***ing godly. My gut says he's a star, but there's also a decent chance the floor is going to fall out, and so far he's shown no ability to hit lefties.

How many minor league picks does GP have?

Anyway, lots to like for both sides but I'd say GP won that one.

I've been hating on Appel for over a year, welcome to the club!

Ryan Braun has been carrying my offence.

He's been awesome, so glad I didn't move him in The League.

BTS' transaction history position in between Braun and Harvey is pretty funny. IIRC he has basically sold Harvey, Braun, and Wainwright at the worst possible times each.

All I have to show is Meadows and whatever portion of Vogt/Richards you want to credit Matz with. We'll see soon if Braun's thumb treatment has worked - it was about this time last year that his 150 wRC+ started the decline to 115 or wherever it finished.
