Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I will kibosh fantrax so hard.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 I don't mind having a harder schedule since it's offset by having only four teams in my division.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Can someone do a Yahoo draft for me tomorrow at 2? I leave for work by 10 tomorrow so I'll need a reply before then.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Enough with the homophobic slurs, its not cool. Chillax, didn't mean it.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 He should retire his brown bag for the next week. And you should retire being an *******, for a week.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 (edited) Here's the thing Spanky, I like you, and I don't think that you intend to offend people when you say it, but even if you didn't mean it, it still isn't ok. I'm not trying to sound preachy here, and I also am borrowing a lot of these quotes from other places, but I think it's worth saying, because it bothers me and I think it bothers other people too.. When you call someone "a s***" you are saying that they are s***, and s*** is bad and not something one would want to be. When you call someone "an *******" you are saying that they are like the part of the body where the s*** comes from, and since s*** is bad, being an ******* is bad. When you call someone "a faggot" you are saying that they are a homosexual, and homosexuals are bad, which is very incorrect, and frankly ignorant. Same with calling someone "gay" as an insult, or otherwise. No one would call someone a "hero" as an insult, because everyone thinks heroes are good (poor example but you catch my drift.) You can't call a non homosexual person a faggot and say you don't mean it as an excuse, because it's insulting to gay people, and it's also insulting to anyone who doesn't think there is anything wrong with being gay. It's identical to using racially motivated insults, which none of us would tolerate. I can't speak for everyone, but I don't think you meant it to be derogatory. With that being said, there's no place for it, and if the rest of us would prefer that language not be used, I think we can all agree to not use it, and to say "chillax" to a politely worded request that is entirely reasonable is particularly frustrating. Anyway, you're a good guy and I don't think you meant this, but it makes me uncomfortable when you use that kind of language, so I would appreciate it if you considered not using it moving forward. Jesus Christ Min, I didn't need this, I thanked his post in agreement, and wasn't trying to be derogatory at all, I know his intent and was replying in light heartedness,(Chillax) I've been to a couple gay marriages in my time, one a very good friend whom I grew up with, and my cousins. I know their gay friends, etc, whom I see every year, when he visits Ontario, I'm not a homophobe, nowhere near it, but I'll admit I let things slip, again not my intent to be malicious. I'll keep working on that, and have been for some time, I grew up in a much different era than most of you, and seen some brutal s*** done to my friend, and another cousin who's mulatto, taking grief from both black and white people. Again, I didn't need the lesson, but I appreciate your honesty and intent. Just to point this out, why do people get a free ride on racial slurs I see on this board near everyday, I don't see this as right, yet jokes of sexuality is so frowned upon, to me they're both equal targets at discrimination? This makes me uncomfortable, yet I don't single anyone out. Edited March 15, 2015 by Spanky99
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 My question: why didn't you just say "my bad, sorry" in response to that?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 why do people get a free ride on racial slurs People get a free ride on racial slurs?

This makes me uncomfortable, yet I don't single anyone out. As much as I hate to do it, I'm gonna side with Spanky on this one. That doesn't mean I condone his language, but the reaction seems a little disproportionate in a baseball discussion forum where we routinely refer to a one-sided trade as a rape, as if somehow drawing an equivalent between making a poor trade and actually being raped. We don't know which of our forum members are gay, nor do we know which forum members have a history of being raped. So, I don't really see much difference.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Was there a need to turn this into something that required people taking sides? He was going overboard and someone asked him to stop. There didn't need to be anything more to it than that.
TRM Verified Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 I agree with everyone saying we don't need to take this any further. I know Spanky wasn't trying to be a bad person, I just wanted to say my two cents. I was also a little drunk myself and failed to see the trees through the forest in all likelihood. With that being said, I do not think there's any need for that sort of language, and I appreciate Spanky indicating he will try to use different words moving forward. Anyway, sorry for stirring stuff up. That's on me.
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 The real story here is how coherent and polite min is even while drunk.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Wow... I cant believe what I just saw. I'm having dinner with my family at Montanas, and the waitress came with a box to box up my nana's leftovers... and she just grabbed my nana's hamburger and fries with her bare hands and stuffed it in the box!!! Who the f*** does that?

TRM Verified Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 How does Nana Dinger feel about Allen Craig?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 She's a 90 year old Polish immigrant, I don't think she even knows what baseballl is.
TRM Verified Member Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 So she feels the same as the rest of us then? Not interested.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 So she feels the same as the rest of us then? Not interested. Yes, much like you, she's completely ignorant to Craig's upcoming resurgence.
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 If Craig does return to form we're all f***ed. Dinger will never let it go.
TRM Verified Member Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 I'm not worried until Dinger beats me in a playoff series.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Dinger's team can't win in the post-season because it lacks vetrin clutch produkshun.

TRM Verified Member Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Got drunk. Made arbitrary divisional PRs. Enjoy: Division PRs Based on Entertainment 1. Cheesesteak: 2nd best rivalry in the league. Boxy horribleness hilarity. Jaysblue pissing everyone off. Most playoff appearances. Has a Norman. Inaugural Champion. Trout, Stanton, Kershaw. This division has it all. 10/10 2. Turkey Bacon Club: Three stud teams. TCA getting drunk. GP doing whatever GP does. North and NJH pseudo rivalry. Best actual sandwich. Champion. 8/10 3. Monte Cristo: Best rivalry. Spanky Antics (Spantics?). Norman. Silvergun hating almost everyone on the board outside of this league. 7/10 4. Reuben: Stupid name. Average sandwich at best. Dinger beating everyone. King Kat going from playoff to poop was neat I guess. 4/10
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 16, 2015 Author Posted March 16, 2015 I don't think you can call it "drunk" if you can still type like that without any errors. When TCA gets drunk he can't get through three words clean. Take notes.

BTS Community Moderator Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 It all depends on the stage of drunkenness. What stage were you at when you dropped Howard for Ethier, Ethier for Pederson, and Pederson for Banuelos between 1:41 and 1:46 am last week?
