TheHurl Site Manager Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Against all my adviser recommendations (and ignoring my own opinions of Bradley) I have made a trade. Carpenter for Franco, A. Bradley and the 30th MiLB pick.

Laika Community Moderator Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 Franco does suck donkey nuts, and since he's Dominican that qualifies as a racial slam as well (bonus points to Boxy). Although, if there's ever to be a CIF prospect that could hit .257/.299 in AAA and then turn into a fantasy relevant player, it's probably the guy with a low K rate, 60 raw, and nobody productive blocking his path to playing time. Bradley gets a mulligan on 2014 for me since he dealt with injuries. I think people are sleeping on him a bit right now. Near elite velocity + other plus pitches + has shown before that he can K guys. But, IIRC it was al elbow strain this past year so maybe he'll get cut sooner than thehurl would like.

I can't talk s*** about Carp, as I inquired on his services. He's a pretty nice asset in OBP leagues, although losing 2B obviously crushes quite a bit of his value.

It doesn't crush his value. Hurts a bit, but more for the loss of flexibility, not because 3B is that much deeper than 2B or anything. 2014 trueAV MLB wide was .261 for 3B, .259 for 2B. Basically the same. The gap was a bit larger the two yeas prior, but in 2011 2Bs actually outhit 3Bs. It's not what it used to be back in the golden days when 3B's were just 1B's with arms, and 2B's were just shortstops with noodles. He was also pretty adequate at 2B so there's a decent chance that he'll get enough games in there at some point, if Wong gets hurt or sucks or whatever.

If true, I think we'll see his fantasy value improve quite a bit. I expect his power numbers will also improve.

I traded two 3B's now and still have two in the top 100 overall (Yahoo O-Rank), while i sit with underrated but still s***** Infante at 2B.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Wasn't Archie Bradley one of the top pitching prospect like a couple of years ago? Goes to show you that prospects are sometimes way overhyped in fantasy. I remember inquiring about him (not sure which league) and he was basically deemed untouchable. Like NJH said he's probably a good buy low right now, though it goes to show you how a prospects value can just take a nosedive.

Every list had him top 10 overall entering 2014, and top ~30 entering the previous two years. He's still absolutely a top prospect. Just 22 years old.

Yeah he was traded for Kershaw last offseason and still has a very bright future.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Yeah he was traded for Kershaw last offseason and still has a very bright future. Let's do this in BBDL.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 To The War Puigs: Julio Teherán Archie Bradley 20th overall MiLB To Twist and Trout: Clayton Kershaw Damn. TCA might still have PTSD from that trape.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Wow, that's a candidate for worst trade in DDL history.

BTS Community Moderator Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 North, spend less time on the BBDL and use yahoo + proboards to compile a complete league trade history. Then maintain it.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 4, 2015 Author Posted February 4, 2015 +1 for the BBDL Want to join the DDL as the league secretary? You would do a lot of the admin duties + maintain trade history for the league, and in exchange you would get absolutely nothing, ever.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Wow, that's a candidate for worst trade in DDL history. Personally, I think Donaldson for a 3rd is far, far worse. At least Teheran is good and Bradley is still completely unknown. It's way too early to label Bradley a bust.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Of course the formatting is a complete eyesore.

In hindsight it's the worst but in context, probably not.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 When did that Donaldson deal happen? In hindsight it's the worst but in context, probably not. It was a couple months into his breakout, when no one really believed in him. In fact, at the time I said something dumb like "nice job selling high on him."
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 "Selling high" on breakouts tends to be a really bad idea. Low upside, and really f***ing big downside.

BTS Community Moderator Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Says the Salazar non-believer. Not really the same thing. Belt and Salazar were in pretty similar spots last year. I just needed a bat more.
