The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I wouldn't mind trading for a waiver pick in the next 10 slots or something like that. If anyone is interested in moving down in the draft.
TRM Verified Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I just perused the league, and a couple observations. 1. It is offensive how much better Dingers team is then everyone else. I know the season hasn't started yet, and anything can happen (especially in a H2H playoffs), but he's gotta be the runaway favourite and anything less than a championship would be a disappointment for him. 2. Giving the defending champ a first week matchup with Boxy is either borderline criminal, or the beginning of a hilarious tradition we should continue for the remainder of the existence of the league. 3. Monte Cristo division is abysmal. 4. War Puigs are gonna challenge in the Turkey Bacon Club. Heck of a three horse race shaping up there.
TRM Verified Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Leave the Monte Cristo alone! Figure your s*** out AL Central.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Figure your s*** out AL Central. I like to compare them more to like the 2005 NL West.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 And how did you guys let Dinger get such a good team! You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Maybe we should cut Dingers keeper roster by 50% next year?

Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Please God let Jeter fall to me. You name dropping whore.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I can`t believe I didn`t even think about Ike Davis. Very solid pick for a rebuilding team.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 People must bend over with their pants down and just start backing up towards him.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 People must bend over with their pants down and just start backing up towards him. I usually slip a pinky in first and it escalates from there.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I've got an offer out on Chris Davis right now, actually.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I will admit I gave up Desmond to him.
TRM Verified Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I believe Dinger and I have one trade. Grandal for Ryu. f***ed me, but I was happy with that trade at the time. Grandal blowing out his knee was sort of out of my control. Oh well, Ryu isn't even on his team any more. There are worse offenders!
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I will admit I gave up Desmond to him. I only gave Koji Uehara to him.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I've given him Ortiz, Archer, and Hunter, but there are much worse offenders. Somebody look up egregious trades made in Dinger's favour. Turning Crick/Buxton into Choo/Sale played a pretty significant role in the creation of his juggernaut.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I did the Price for Choo trade with him, which helped out both of our teams.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I dont think anyone really got raped in a trade with him, he just drafted really well and used those pieces to improve his team. The Fernandez deal was the only one I didnt understand.
TRM Verified Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I still think the biggest headscratcher trade at the time of the trade was the Wieters for Harvey one. Obviously, some trades break a certain way after the fact, and arguments can be made for that being chance or good foresight by a manager, but that one was weird at first and continues to be weird.
TRM Verified Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Ouch. My Dinger deals: Hunter and 116 for 54 Archer for 14 Ortiz for Glasnow The thing is, I still have pretty high hopes for Grandal.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 To Northof49 Fanclub: Jake Odorizzi, Gary Sanchez, #10 To A Wrench In The Plan: Ryan Zimmerman, #70, #91 This is where the madness began.

TRM Verified Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 To be fair, it was Wieters and the 4th overall pick in the 2013 draft for Harvey. Ahh, I misremembered. That does change it significantly (although still doesn't change the fact that there was still a clear winner of the trade, in my opinion).
TRM Verified Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Yeah but I turned Ryu into Anibal. That's not on me, fortunately.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 In all honesty, a big part of the creation came from a strong June draft. Turning Sonny Gray and Tyler Glasnow into instant profit was huge. I've personally revamped my entire strategy around this gameplan. I probably won't take a single 2014 draftee in the next June Draft. All players that are less than two years away.

The Fernandez deal was the only one I didnt understand. I love Fernandez to an irrational extent, but considering what Zimmerman and Lester did in Sept/Oct, trading for Fernandez may very well have cost me the 2013 Championship.

I have two main trade philosophies in this league: 1) Always consider your trade partner's needs before your own. 2) Trade prospects for MLB talet when their value is high, preferably before they debut.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I traded him Shields (and Morse) for Rodney, Yordano, and Giolito.

We both lost that trade in a sense but you have a longer window to work with and win a championship anyways. I have already cashed out on my half of the trade which sucks because the combined value of my return on Zimmerman and Lester is far lesser than Fernandez (unless someone like Odor or Glasnow breaks out in a ridiculous way). I'll pat myself on the back for making the Fernandez pick in the first place and hope lightning strikes again.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Oh yeah, I guess I have a 3rd philosophy (to what BTS said): Always be the 1 in a 2-for-1.
