Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 It probably will, you'll have plenty of managers wanting to take over teams. Yeah, it's more questionable for the BBDL, but even then new people should come around as old ones leave. I'd also assume some managers might like the chance at both if holes need to be filled.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 It probably will, you'll have plenty of managers wanting to take over teams. you called?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 It probably will, you'll have plenty of managers wanting to take over teams. It probably will. Or maybe a massive solar flare will fry all our earthly electronics and the planet will plunge into chaos!
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Just an FYI to a the teams having quality sp or positional as their 21st guys, I'll be looking to acquire one either through a draft pick swap or mid to late pick a week before the cut down date.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Any further thought about editing the DDL Master Roster file to remove the accented letters (a-la José Fernández). It would make it easier to search.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I got a better idea, how about you keep that beautiful name away from your grungy fingertips!
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I got a better idea, how about you keep that beautiful name away from your grungy fingertips! I couldn't type it with my grungy fingers if I wanted too... I'm far too lazy to insert those fruity accents

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 There, I fixed most of them, you racist. There are some I didn't because I'm lazy and my laptop can barely handle this Google doc, apparently.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Jose has been shot at, jailed and killed a tiger shark with a stale churro to save his drowning mother. I hardly think anything in baseball could rattle him.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Either that or he's at his breaking point. You better trade him while you can still get a warm body in return. Even though it's probably an overpay I could probably give you Alex Rodriguez. He makes way more cash then that Fernandez guy, which means he's way better, right?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I don't see how I could possibly take your Hall of Famer for my lowly rookie, it wouldn't be ethical.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I get angry every time I see Jose Fernandez's name because he reminds me of Matt Harvey. I'll never forget the three months we had together You turned Matt Wieters into Ryan Braun. I have no pity for you.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Jose Fernandez's story. It was a good read, don't remember seeing this on here before. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/9480868/marlins-rookie-pitcher-jose-fernandez-journey-cuban-defector-mlb-all-star
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I bet you guys wish you were choosing one of Bruce Chen or Tom Gorzelanny to cut. It's OK to be jealous.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 You should probably cut both and then trade me something for Bourn or Balfour. There will be plenty of better SPs in the Rule 5.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Yeah, I was gonna say that. If I were boxy I'd be offering mid-late picks all over to try and snag useful roster pieces that I could flip at profit after the waiver draft. Absolutely. You can get Balfour right now for a mid-round pick upgrade. After the cut date, you can get a straight up mid-rounder for him. Quick profit.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I bet you guys wish you were choosing one of Bruce Chen or Tom Gorzelanny to cut. It's OK to be jealous. Cut them both, and trade for a starter with some upside and a future. André Rienzo, Jeff Locke, Josh Beckett, Colby Lewis, Dustin McGowan, Matt Magill, Tommy Hanson, Tyler Thornburg, Álex Colomé, Yusmeiro Petit. They are all better options and can be had for dirt cheap.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 If you waste a 20-man roster spot on f***ing Tom Gorzelanny I'm not going to feel bad for you when you end up in 30th place this year.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I'd probably offer a pick for Petit if I though SF would give him a rotation spot. He'll be the number 5 over Vogelsong.
torontofan Verified Member Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 If we trade one of our waiver picks, therefore only having 5 left. Do we get to grab any players at the end of the draft to fill our rosters or do we have to wait til Yahoo opens to select? Just wondering what is the criteria for this?

The draft isn't until Yahoo is open. I'm one pick short too. I assume I'd just pick one up off the available players list after the draft.

Just to clarify, the Waiver Draft is not a Yahoo Live Draft. We will do it manually one by one, then the FA pool will go on waivers for 24 hours, then free agency will begin.

Okay, so then I'd just have to wait 24 hours after the end of the draft to pick up my last player to round out my roster.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Okay, so then I'd just have to wait 24 hours after the end of the draft to pick up my last player to round out my roster. Correct. Free agency will open at a specific time so that everyone has a fair shot to grab whoever makes it through the Waiver Draft.

I tried to make your decision for you but one of our commissioners decided to give me an ethics speech. At least the other commish doesn't have them either.

I honestly thought waiver picks had to be dealt with another waiver pick going back, i have no issue if that isn't the case but it's not like anyone can use the 6th one though.

I suppose you could if you decided to cut down to 19 players before the draft, but your team would have to be awfully s***** in that case.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 If anybody wants to take two of Ryu, Beachy and Archer for a slightly superior pitcher, give me a shout. Similarly, if anybody wants to take two of Bourn, Torii and Gardner for a slightly superior OF, give me a shout. I'd be willing to throw in Balfour too if it makes a deal work.
